                Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - 01 1.9 31mpg from a tdi 130 wots wrong with it 8 Feb 2010 (Forum)
i used to get around mid 40's to the gallon now im lucky to get over 32mpg. iv had it on diagnostics today and the mass afm is slightly down but not by much. what could it be, i gave it a full service when i bought it 5k miles ago. also driving steady or driving fast it dosent seem to make a difference to how much fuel it uses. im getting at tops if im lucky 150miles to £20. there is no eml light when i put the ignition on but there were no fault codes either. any help would be great cheers -

                Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - Cam belt Change costs 4 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I had the cambelt changed on my 1997 1.25 16v Zetec engined Fiesta by a small local French garage, billed for 2.5 hrs labour (total 110?). Has anybody got the book time? I thought that the book time was 3.5 hrs (with P/S), or is my memory failing? Rhetorical question, I know it is! A good result, because otherwise the car would have been left in an airport carpark at 90?. I supplied the Gates cambelt kit - which had been riding in the boot for the last 18 months as a guarantee that terminal failure would occur. -

                Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - 08 2.0 tracking problem 18" alloy wheel 24 Oct 2009 (Forum)
My car is a Titanium X estate with sport appearance pack. I have got bad tyre wear on the front o/s wheel. A tyre specialist garage checked the tracking, but informed me that they did not have the correct settings available for my particular model. They then said they should be the same as a previous model. -
Filth beyond belief - descending gaga to cylinders 16 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Straight down the throats of those once pristine inlet tracts - and into the cylinders as gritty grinding paste for the bores and rings. That`s the EGR. Or rather `the facilitator of filth` I`ve just blanked off the EGR on the 1.9D (as in tech) But woa.. what wet oily filth has been descending.. I`m amazed engines keep running... Now add DPF.. -

Baked on bugs > best remedy 10 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Having travelled on a long hot trip about a week ago when it was hot, I?m still left with some of the baked-on remains of bugs. ( even after lots of rain. ) It?s a black car so they seem to show. I?ve tried hot water & sponge, and non-abrasive kitchen cleaners, but there always seems to be some left on. I?m trying not to scratch the surface of course, so I? -
                Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 97 1.25 replacing drop links 7 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Other than machining an old spanner (which I cannot do), as anyone managed to undo these drop links and with what? Thanks! S. -
Road caves in half an hour after driving on it 1 May 2009 (Forum)
I am quite shocked by this, I drive downt his stretch of road about 2-3 times a week and is only 2.5 miles from where I live. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/s/1112627_hole_halts_traffic I drove down this just half an hour before, I remember being stuck in traffic behind a police van I just feel so lucky I set off when I did and if I didn't have a car there was a good chance I would have been on the bus which went over it :( It is nice to see our raod tax goes on inspections to ensure roads don't just fall in. -
                Ford KA, KA2, KA3 (1996 - 2008) - Ford Ka as a cheap runaround 24 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Having reconsidered budgets regarding purchase price and running costs I was thinking of the Ka. I'd never previously considered a Ka but a friend has just bought an S Reg. I was amazed at just how simple and basic it looked. It was strangely refreshing to see bare metal and basic controls. It even looks vaguely repairable by a DIY mechanic compared to my Pug 406! -
Thoughts on DRLs (Day Running Lights) 3 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I've read threads about use of sidelights in poor visibility, which I think DRL's address quite nicely, though there fitment to my car was purely incidental. I noticed Fiat 500's, and many Volvo's & BMW's, and of course all those Audi led ones. Mind a lot of the Beemers seem to drive with lights on in daytime. I think they just like to pose with those "angel eyes" lights. -
Warranty Direct -no pairs exclusion 31 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Had recent f/n/s coil spring failure; no problem said W/D, get it done. My Vx garage and Vx themselves, strongly recommend doing both sides [the springs from Vx are only supplied in pairs, perhaps to reinforce this message]. -
Sad number plate fiddling. 19 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Why bother to put that yellow/white/black bolt just *there* so that your number plate has your initials, or something that? Why bother to hack the "4" about, so that it's distorted and looks like an A? Change "5" into "S"? This after dropping the boy off at school this morning, & looking at the mummies cars made up like this. A Lard Rover Discovery with an oblong plate decorated with what should have been "NXXX/MXX" changed to "LXXXM/XX" (or something like that). -

                Renault Scenic (1999 - 2003) - 01 1.9dci loss of drive 13 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I have spoken to a renault dealer and the seem to think its the clutch, another garage thinks it could be a drive shaft? I had no problems up till now with the drive of gears. I have noticed the the O/S tyre has worn would this happen if the drive shaft has been on its way out. steering wheel did wobble a bit at speeds between 70- 80. if anyone has any ideas and could help i would be very thanksfull. -
                Minor bump - 3 points+fixed penalty fine 29 Dec 2008 (Forum)
If you have a bump currently no police will attend unless there is an injury- normally drivers only exchange names, address, Ins Co etc - with the proposed change in the law the Govt will be keen to have police attend as the Treasury gets the £60/£100 fines. More ££££s driven tax raising rather than policing in my opinion
