EV perks 20 Jun 2020 (Forum)
This is all out of taxation which non EV drivers are paying. EV drivers are also getting subsidised fuel in the form of cheap electric. When will the average driver be able to afford and run a EV and until then carry on helping the well off with their motoring -
Minivan for long distance? 17 Feb 2020 (Forum)
I need something with a lot of space and where the rear seats fold down into a bed. So a minivan or van base. I had thought of a Nissan Elgrand but am put off by the fuel costs. Has anyone got any suggestions? Seems like most of these are Japanese imports, which is fine, but I don't know a huge amount about what is available. Budget about 5k. -
toyota corolla verso 2L DIESEL - engine flooding 31 Dec 2019 (Forum)
Hello, looking at a 10 plate verso which is a non runner, apparently been diagnosed at Toyota as major fuel leak and seller says been told injectors stuck in open position, seems odd all doing this and i thought it was more like a signal from ecu causing all. anyone know any history of this kind of defect, i do not have the p code associated with the fault. -
Any - Electric cars - new pollution factor 21 Sep 2019 (Forum)
I'm neither anti nor pro electric cars if anything I'm quite interesting in moving to one myself when affordable, but it shows that even the alternatives need proper evaluation before we're forced again towards a replacement fuel as some of the consequences are intricate -
Astra j sri 1-4t - abs light 3 May 2019 (Forum)
Esp and abs light came on yesterday thus putting car into limp mode. Engine management light came on for a bit periodically aswell. Fuel gauge was showing empty then back up to where it should be every five mins or so. Garage diagnosis was right hand front wheel sensor. Only code that was picked up. Is this normal behaviour just for a abs sensor?? -
Vauxhall Corsa - Is the dent in my car fixable at home? 2 Mar 2019 (Forum)
I scraped it against a tree stump when reversing out of a driveway and it is dented on the right rear panel just underneath the fuel cap. It’s minor but noticeable so I’d like to get it sorted but I’m reluctant to spend a fortune to get it fixed. -
Korando, Kuga or 3008 19 Jun 2018 (Forum)
I have narrowed the choice down to: Ford Escape (Kuga) 1.6 (2013) Peugeot 3008 1.6 (2015) Korando 2.0 (2015) In terms of reliability, fuel consumption - would welcome opinions. I like strange cars - I have a 2002 Korando and also had a Fiat Palio Adventure. Most appreciated for any comments/POVs. -
Kia venga 2 1.4 petrol manual - 18 months on - old 6 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Routine servicing with annual oil changes so far and no problems except for one weeping shock absorber, no doubt down to the state of our roads. Fuel consumption mostly around here about 35 is, 40 on a "run". we'll see how it cope with a trip to holland and belgium next week. -
Volvo D4 - dpf, dmf scaremongering? 12 Sep 2017 (Forum)
Fed up of trying to find a decent family petrol car on a 12k budget. Petrol used prices increasing, poor fuel consumption etc. Love the V60, but OK if you want a ridiculous Polestar. So I'm afraid I'm going back to diesel. Does anyone know if I would have issues with a 3 year old V60 D4 with 50k on clock? -
Vauxhall corsa comfort 1.4 automatic - car not starting when hot 2 Oct 2016 (Forum)
When my car is cold it starts no problem, but when I turn the car off and try to restart it when it's hot it will not start, there are no codes found, Eml not coming on. Changed crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, knock sensor, lambda sensor, engine coolant sensor, fuel pump relay, spark plugs, you name it. Can anyone think of anything else? -
Ofgem 27 Sep 2016 (Forum)
i note from my latest energy bill that Ofgem have stipulated a new rule whereby if an On Line Dual Fuel bill is in credit , a customer is refunded. That might be fine for some--but what about the old rule of bulding up your "credit" of lower summer use--to equalise the higher winter bill? So what does this mean in bill terms ? -
Premium Car, Which One? 10 Jul 2016 (Forum)
Have been considering an S Class but concerned that maintenance and any repair bills will be astronomical. Fuel consumption is not a concern. Does anyone have any guidance as to what would be a good used buy? The main criteria is comfort, smooth ride and a reliable auto box and ideally a car that will not cost its purchase price in repair bills. -

Any - Tesco diesel probe: Branksome filling station stay 26 Sep 2014 (Forum)
The forecourt has been dug up and the supermarket is carrying out "further research" after tests on the fuel were inconclusive. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-29375776 -
Audi TT - Audi TT Auto which is more reliable Mk1 or Mk2 18 Sep 2014 (Forum)
Want to spend about £10,000 and use as a weekend car, just sold my 97 Mustang Cobra so not worried about fuel, but most of my cars do 150,000 miles with no real problems, probably cause their Fords -
Vauxhall Corsa C - Warning light for engine electronics stays on 24 Aug 2014 (Forum)
The control indicator light for engine electronics and immobilizer remained on during a 80 mile journey hole last night and the acceleration was dipping now and then as if there was a blockage to the fuel line. I have arranged to pass this old but usually reliable and well maintained car on for £250 in the next couple of weeks and so don't want to be confronted with a large bill. Any advice on the cause of the problem and what a solution might be? -

Mercedes AMG sport review Autoh magazine issue 3 - Lazy journalism? 7 Mar 2014 (Forum)
This is a free magazine that is currently distributed free in NE England. They have a review?puff piece for this model. They state "the bonus is an average fuel economy of 68 mpg " Also "go easily on a long journey and the long legged top gear will beat that figure" Do you think Mercedes have really found the holy grail or just some sloppy journalism. -
Audi A4 - engine warning light 28 Apr 2013 (Forum)
some 6 dignostics all show same result that the fuel air mix is lean. On correction car runs for approx 20 miles with no warning light and then it comes on again. Both relevant Bosch sensors have been replaced and the catalytic converter cleaned. No difference to petrol consumption and the garage confirms no adverse effect on performance.
