Vauxhall Corsa D (2006 - ) - Unexpected poor fuel consumption figs. 24 May 2008 (Forum)
The car was superb and I had no issues with it. In September my circumstances changed and I got a new job with a company van with fully expensed fuel etc so I decided it was time to give my Astra up :-(. During this time my Girlfriends car decided to pack in and we decided to get rid of the astra (Mainly due to the fuel consumption) and downgrade. i went to Vauxhall and asked what they could do for me regarding a possible swap for another Astra (maybe a diesel?). -
`Luxury bloat` small cars, to efficiency priority? 2 May 2008 (Forum)
It seems that current European `small` cars are fine in the current (or was that last month) want for `luxury small`, but are still larger and bloated in weight than they could be if fuel economy and low purchase cost were paramount. Will the new fuel prices bring about austerity super economical models? Fuel consumption before weigh, bloat and.. dare I say it, aircon ;) Any thoughts? -
Diesel, Cold, stop start fuel consumption figures 20 Dec 2007 (Forum)
This must be a typical journey for many people in winter, in particular those retired or running children around to school etc. But why do you rarely hear of the big fuel savings on cold, short journey, stop start use with diesel? (Diesels driven care that is and not booted forward at every gear change with maximum torque) Could it be that the official fuel consumption tests flatter Petrol? -

Chrysler Voyager - car keeps breaking down with no prior warning when driving along 26 Sep 2017 (Forum)
This could be 10 miles from home to 100 miles away from home it just so unpredictable as it happens without any notice, i think this is extremely dangerous as if i was on the motor way my car just stops dead without any notice I tried a new fuel filter but the same kept happening i had it towed to a garage where they put the machine on a diagnostic machine - everything came back fine?? Although the mechanic could hear the tank kicking in he said that the fuel pressure was low- later found out this was due to a crack in the fuel filter housing and leaking, got this changed with a brand new hosuing unit but still no joy We have had a new fuel pump (the one underneath the car next to the tank) fitted drove perfect for a day seemed to have more power then 10 minutes from home the following day the same happened again :( my husband says when it breaks down it always seems as if the car is out of fuel (diesel) although we never let the car get below a quarter of a tank. -
Volkswagen polo bluemotion 2010 - Help my fuel injectors busted a second engine! 10 May 2017 (Forum)
About a month ago my car broke down with a billowing of white smoke. It was transferred to a fuel specialist where they said one had became trapped open causing unburnt diesel to flood the engine, they replaced this fuel injector (£500) and then transferred my car to another specialist to have a new engine put it. -
ford focus 1.8 tdci - injector/fuel pressure problems? 3 Mar 2014 (Forum)
i took it to my local diesel specialists, who came highly reccommended who done a full diagnostic and leakage test. the fault came back to injector no 1 exess leakage and they advised replacing no 1 injector and also replacing the fuel filter. this i did at a cost of £220 for injector supply and fit and the fuel filter and the diagnostic was £65. upon collecting the car yesterday it seemed to run fine until the exact same symptoms started again! -

Peugeot 309 (1986 - 1993) - 90 1.9 gti turns over but will not fire 7 Dec 2009 (Forum)
the car does have an immobilizer near the ignition, the type you put a fob to, so i was unsure what this mystery switch was. after lots of messing round im 99% sure it was some kind of fuel pump immobilizer as when i connected some wires together could hear it working. this still didnt get it started. i have tried everything i can think of, checked the spark, thats good. checked there is fuel getting to the injectors by disconnecting the pipe and turning it over, there was a healthy stream of petrol squirting out. took the plugs out and checked spark again, this time pouring a little fuel into each bore. still, not even a pop out of the engine.surely fuel + spark = fire? -
Renault Clio 1 Petrol (1991 - 1998) - 95 1171 Turns over but will not start 5 Sep 2009 (Forum)
This forced me to do some elementary diagnostics today, with a happy result at least of getting it lit up again, albeit no root cause yet! When it will not start, there is spark @ plugs, but no smell of fuel. I have re-seated all of the fuel injection electrical connectors I can find, including what I think are the fuel pump relays in a box between the battery and the nearside strut top, all to no avail. -
MG MG ZT (2001 - 2005) - 03 2.0 (135)fuel lift pump 8 Jul 2008 (Forum)
By this time beginning to loose all faith in the car but felt unable to change it due to the Rover bankruptcy and the huge loss we could ill afford to incur.Since then we have had another loss of power at high speed in the outside lane of the M25, rescued, another episode whilst towing a caravan, middle lane of the M25,each time taken to main dealers in the local area by breakdown company and supposedly repaired either by fitting new fuel lifter pump.Had all work done last year in france again when it failed again after running perfectly for 12 months. Ran for 12 months and has now done the same thing and needs another pump we have been told.We have done 34000 miles and wonder if this really is a fuel pump problem or could it be electronic/electrical.
