• Vectra trouble codes 4 Aug 2006 (Forum)
  My X25XE-engined Vectra often exhibits ecu trouble very briefly, without running problems, but I am unable to make sense of the codes which are usually "10-1-10-10" or "10-3-3-5". These do not comply with the format indicated in the Haynes fault codes manual or the "OBD-II" universal codes.

  I like the lines, but it's an old model with what HJ calls a high death rate (worrying). I imagine, being a Mazda it's reliable and though I couldn't afford to run the the V6, I've been offered a 1.8 Executive with 79,000 miles for £1500. What can expect of this car in relation to my 1.6 Focus LX?

  Just finished a test on my car after running the Redex Gold diesel injector treatment through it. With 40 litres of cheap 'n' nasty Esso diesel in followed by 20 litres of BP Ultimate, the fuel economy went from 44 to 51mpg. I was exceptionally sceptical so am continuing to test with cheap diesel to see if the benefits last.

  Who are these people who have suddenly appeared in traffic-cop style Range-Rovers? Can they prosecute and arrest people? What do they do all day when the motorway is running smoothly, or when a disruption is not something they can solve with their high-visability jackets and a 4WD full of cones? Do I have to slow down to 80 mph when I'm overtaking them?

  My 1998 Primera GT has developed an intermittent squealing noise. Audible from inside the car - louder from the outside. Doesn't happen at all on short runs, only after driving steadily for 30 mins. or so. Seems to be unconnected to road speed and engine revs. The noise goes away temporarily if I dab the brakes lightly. Any ideas? Thanks

  hi looking at buying an audi a4 1.8t with lpg conversion showing 117k on the clock. the price is more or less about right, but i need to keep the car at least 3 years and as such will the engine run to 200k trouble free aslong as it is regularly serviced? the car has fsh and is in very good condition just need to know if the engine will be good for another few years? cheers chris

  manufactures warranty runs out in 1 months time. Do you think it is worth the cost to extend the warranty or just take a chance. The car is a 2 litre D4D Rav4 on an 03 plate. The only problems over the three years of ownership was a new battery after leaving the car in the garage when we were in Spain for six months.

  I got a 1992 T4 caravelle 2000cc petrol.She runs lovely starts first time when cold or hot.The trouble is if i drive anywhere so its hot then leave it for about 20 mins it just wont start.Turns over ok no sign of the engine wanting to fire.Leave it till it gets cold and it starts straight away.Can anybody help.thank you.

  My Audi A6 2.5 TDI will start each morning but after a run and 3 hours or so standing it takes 10 or more turns to fire. The glowplugs are fine so it is probably some engine management sensor. My garage has not been able to pinpoint the problem. Has anyone suggestions as to what it might be?

  Hi I am currently running my 96 2.8 lwb on 235/85/16 Colway AT.Does any one have a cheap and simple idea on getting an extra lift.ie longer springs on the rear,ie from another jeep.And how could I lift the front as it has torsion bars,shocks/spacers etc.cutting and welding jobs no problem as thats what I do for living....thanks
• PAS Pump Failed - Opel Combo van 26 Nov 2005 (Forum)
  The Opel Combo van has a problem - the pipes serving the PAS pump have corroded and therefore fluid has run out. Mechanic has checked it out and said OK to drive - but not for long distances. My question is - if its ok to drive for short trips, why not longer trips? I realise steering will be alot heavier, but is that all?

  G'Day, got a '03 plate TDi 130 quattro, done 20k miles. Computer says I'm getting average 40 on local journeys, 43-44 on longer runs. Is this about right? I canna find Audi's official figures. T'is great car and consumption seems pretty good (particularly as quattro must add weight). Anyone enlighten me, pse? thanks EH

  Yes the umpteenth running of the world famous London to Brighton classic car rally is held today. Isn't it time though they changed the entry rules though? Cars must be pre 1905 in order to qualify. Maybe if the had a rolling 100 year minimum it would create more interest?

  Hi, bought my 96 2.0 Omega CD, needed a big cheap run around. Please can someone tell me, on the indicator stalk there are 3 small buttons marked l, R and O... what do they do..? Seem unable to locate an owners manual so if anyone can point me in the right direction, most appreciated.

  With no belt in place the noise continues and that rules out the water pump. The cam belt was replaced recently and the car was running well. I'm mystified! Thanks.

  At idle: HC=OK, CO=OK BUT Lambda = 1.15 The Lambda figure stayed the same at all revs up to 4000. HC and CO still within limits at all speeds. Car runs and drives okay. What is the backroom opinion - new lambda sensor required maybe?

  Can anyone advise me as what mkay be the cause of all the instruments just stopping. Everything stops just as if the ignition had been switched off only the car stays running and the head lights work all else fails. It started off with just the wipers now it is everything. The ignition switch appears to be working correctly All help would be greatly appreciated

  Today I replaced the temp. sender & put a new contact on the end of lead. Took it for a good 20min run tonight but it still doesn't show any temp. Am I missing something? Cheers, Pete

  The current and increasing trend seems to be to tailgate the traffic through the lights long after red has appeared. By stopping I run the risk of being rear-ended. (So that's it!) Maybe I should get out more. Oz (as was)

  Has the fad for fitting bull bars to new vehicles almost run its course? My impression is that I see fewer vehicles with them fitted. Still too many on older vehicles! The oddest sight was bull bars on a Smart car. Are cheese graters on side lights no longer thought to be trendy?
