  £8000 - £12000 for a decent family car with decent boot GOOD RELIABILITY and be able to pull a caravan, ok fuel economy,Probably suv\mpv . Currently have a 17 plate Citroen grand C4 Picasso which is a nice family car not so the reliability. Initial thoughts are Kia Sportage but still looking at other option.

  There is a Shell garage on the A43 just south of Kettering which for ages has priced its fuel around 10p per litre above that of the local supermarkets.  Today I bought E10 there at 155.9 per litre, having seen a price of 166.9 at Morrisons and Asda, which were usually the cheapest. Are they in cahoots profiteering?

  Preferred: -1.4-1.6 petrol - something with a bit of oomph but not horrible on fuel - manual -5 door + 5 seats, something spacious that i could carry friends around with comfortably -year of reg: 2015+ -Mileage <30k -something reliable - body = hatchback looking at a 2015 1.4 VW golf match, thoughts?

  Daughters car not with me at the moment. Apparently the screen is "stuck" on fuel consumption and average speed page. She could not find any way to reset the screen in her hand book and neither could she find any youtube clips etc Any advice greatly appreciated. I have told her to watch this space.

  I've read that normal petrol engines are OK as the petrol acts as a solvent on the way into the cylinder and cleans deposits away. As diesel is a 'sooty' fuel anyway and diesels have been direct injection for ages, why don't they get the same problem?

  I have a Handa Izy mower that will not start. If I remove the air filter and squirt fuel direct into the carb, it will start and carry on running fine. Aslo after it has run for a few minutes it will start straight away. But each week I go to use it, I have to go thriugh the same procedure.

  Most cars give fuel consumption  figures l/km of mpg but the manufacturers of electric engined cars do not. Why should there not be a miles/kwh consumption figure. If you are proposing to buy an electric car why should you not know or have some idea of how much it will cost to run?

  i have 5 series 530d se touring with an intermittent starting problem most of the time it starts ok then it just will not start, fuel pump ok keys and immobiliser ok could it be crank or cam sensor/s any help appreciated

  The inside fuel-cap flap lists the recoomended tyre pressure range for all main tyres (between 2.1 and 2.7 bar). I can´t find the recommended value for the space saver spare though. Anyone know - and can tell me where to look ?

  Going down the motorway, all dash lights came on all gauges went to zero, no feel on the accelerator no revs showing but engine was still on, I stopped and turned the engine off, but couldn't restart it. starter motot not turning over. 15 minutes later it started. Fuel filter changed. Now it starts sometimes and doesn't at other times.  Help.

  hi i have lost all power to my speedo, fuel gauge and radio since my battery went dead i have checked all fuses with no faults there i am wondering wot cud b the most common diagnosis for this fault? any help wud greatly appreciated

  none starter made emergency stop engine stopped 100 metres later now engine mangement light on turns over fuel getting to injectors will not go  will start on easy start in air filter then stops again please help had car 7 years and no problems thanks ian

    When this happens i get a quick plume of white smoke as the flat spot goes.  Have changed fuel filter and added injector cleaner. No flat spot when changing gear in fast moving traffic. Any ideas please.  Thank you

  After a small bump, the theory is that the red button (near the suspension leg) is pressed to reset the fuel pump and the car should start again. I have tried this on mine but all I can hear when I turn the key is the pin of the starter motor firing, and then nothing else? Has my starter gone or is it something else?

  It disapears when it warms up The battery test has been fine and glow plugs replaced. I was wondering if there was a cold start mechanism on the fuel pump? Any advise appreciated  thanks

  Looking to buy a cheap Focus for a family member. Needs cheap insurance and ok fuel economy whilst not being too sluggish on hills etc. Any recommends for certain engine size to look for as there seems to be quite a few to choose from?! and any other points to watch when buying an old Focus?
