How to determine a trader? 22 Dec 2024 (Forum)
Good morning I’m really hoping someone on here can give me some advice as I’m at my wits end. I recently bought a Citroen Dispatch van for £7900.00 which was converted into a micro camper, the van was sold with an MOT which was not done by the seller. It had failed on a light and tyres but I have an email from the seller stating the faults has been ‘done’. -
Renault Captur - A few days with a Renault Captur 29 Jul 2019 (Forum)
Then I realised that the rear seat slides, enabling you to alter the boot space/rear cabin ratio. Not a new idea of course - I think the Citroen ZX had this on some models – but the first time I’ve seen it on a Renault. Things I liked: Engine. As long as you like the three-cylinder distinctive noise that is. -
Peugeot 806 - Peugeot 806 problems 21 Mar 2014 (Forum)
My saviour since I was 18 and faced with the daunting task of replacing everything form the breaks to the head gasket on my xr3i... Except Haynes dont make a manual for the 806, not the Citroen Synergie or Fiat Ulysees. They dont make one for the Expert, Dispatch or Scudo either... They do however make a manual for the Millenium Falcon and another for Babies (Actually a really helpfull book!)... -
Civic, Focus, Astra - Advice on car to handle commuting to new job 15 Jan 2014 (Forum)
So the question is, is something like a Civic, with it's reputed reliability and appealing character, or the somewhat more dull but equally well respected Focus, actually worth the age/mileage hit versus an Astra/Kia/Citroen/Peugeot for the same budget? -
Peugeot 306 - Peugeot 306 1.4 Engine issue 6 May 2013 (Forum)
Anyway, while i was doing this i decided to check the spark plugs, give em a clean and put em back in, there was a lead above and i disconnected it so i could get the socket tool in to remove the plug easily, when i put the plugs back i forgot the put the cable in, started the engine and all seemed fine , this is the cable location Its on a citroen web pic but same engine, when i took it out for a drive it started fine, reversed off drive fine, then pulled off in 1st gear okay, and went into 2nd gear on a slight inclined road and the engine judders like its going to stall. -
Next Car Advice/Recommendation... 27 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Probably best if I give a bit of background first to where I am today. About eight years ago I had a 2001 Citroen Saxo 1.6 VTR which was abruptly written off at a set of traffic lights. As a result of this I went totally safety conscious for the next car and got a 1999 Volvo S40 1.8 XS. At the time I was doing a commute of about 20 miles a day but some time later, due to a change in job, this doubled to 40 miles a day. -
Ford Ka, Fiat Bravo - Two car family - trade-offs 3 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Hi all I'm after a little bit of advice on some new cars we're thinking of buying - these are as replacements for an ageing Audi A3 T-sport (200K and still going, although perhaps not for long!) and a far too big Citroen Zsara Picasso (60K on an 02 plate, decent but just too big). We really want to get down to 1 car, but work and home situations mean we need 2, with one as a ‘spare’ for occasional commute and around-town use. -
New Year, New Car 10 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Happy new year everyone, It's coming round to time to replace my trusty (really!) citroen C5 and I've narrowed down my shortlist to 3 cars which might not on the face of it seem like obvious competitors with each other. So in time-honoured fashion I'm interested in the views of you BRers that might influence my choice a little. -

Just feasable car commute LPG? 9 Dec 2008 (Forum)
RAV happens to be fantastically reliable. 1)Not sure if to sell the RAV and pick up an elderly but maybe reliable diesel. or 2)use the Picasso each day 3)at some point convert the Citroen to run on lpg 4)Buy a used LPG car, maybe a Vauxhall Astra duel fuel.Old shape Astra's available for around 2K. Unleaded currently 90.9 pence LPG 53.9 pence maybe available cheaper. Conversion cost £1200-£1500. -
Thoughts on replacing Polo 22 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Safety is a big factor for me - it needs to protect me as well as Polo did, and feel as safe and chunky as Polo does (that rules out Vauxhall, Nissan, Citroen and Peugeot then). I think I'm probably just on the border of a diesel making economic sense, as I do a lot of miles visiting friends and family around the country as well as work. I don't want a big car, so small hatchback sized is ideal. -
JD Power Survey overrated? 6 May 2004 (Forum)
First placed Honda Jazz on 88.4% gets five stars, as do the second-and third-placed cars on 85.x%, but the four-star Hyundai Amica gets a very close 81.9%. The two-star Fiat Punto is very close to the Amica, on 77.3%, while the in-between three-star Citroen C3 gets 79.4%. With scores that close, the Amica, C3 and Punto really deserve to be in the same bracket ... but instead, the Amica appears to do twice as well as the Punto. I wouldn't use this star-system as a guide. -
New C-Class... 21 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I noticed it when I got home; no doubt M-B would argue that it is ?within spec? but even a black Citroen Saxo has no such fault. 5/10. -Body panel alignment on bonnet not 100%; body panels (?fangs?)either side of radiator grille are not level. RHS panel protrudes 0.5 inch more than left. This sounds petty, but my wife noticed this obvious misalignment and was furious. -
Are speed ramps killing my fuel economy? 13 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I'm a very infrequent poster but daily reader to the forum, which is why you've probably not seem me about much :) I drive a Citroen Xantia 1.9TD. Recently, I'd been becoming worried that there might be a fault with my car becuase I was getting low fuel economy - usually about 32mpg. Each weekday, I'll drive a mile down the single track lane linking my estate with a junction onto the A38 - an NSL dual carriageway. -
What to buy????????? 3 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Read loads of reviews on the Mondeo, and found wind noise and refinement not as good as others in class. (Autocar, What Car?) Citroen C5 estate SXi with 2.2 HDi engine. Good refinement not as good a steer as Mondeo, but, comes with climate, cruise and CD player as standard! Cheap to buy and insurer.Quality and reliability an issue. -
£1 = 100 miles 10 Nov 2001 (Forum)
They are offering grants on cars like this and several other electric cars. So can you buy an electric Pug from Peugout UK as it suggests? Or what about an electric Citroen Berlingo? No you cannot - In fact, if you contact anyone like Peugout about the cars they will swear blind they don't even exist, even though in some countries they are readily available! Don't listen to any of this rubbish about getting us into cleaner cars by any government anywhere in the world - all they are bothered about is getting their hands on the vast wads of tax we have to pay on petrol! -
Ferrari 1 Oct 2001 (Forum)
p.s. this would be for use in the UK when I return next spring. p.p.s. No, David, I do not want a Citroen nor, Guy, do I want a VW. p.p.s. and now you know what it costs to make me work in Brazil ! -
Renault Clio 1.5 dCi 68 road test . . . 28 Oct 2006 (Forum)
The comparisons was of diesels of about 85-90 bhp. I was interested to note that the results were as follows. 1) Peugeot 207 2) Renault Clio 3) Citroen C3 4) = Opel Corsa 4) = Toyota Yaris 6) Fiat Grand Punto. So, that's first, second, and third, for the French. Patriotism / chauvinism? Or perhaps just a sign that the French manufacturers know exactly what the home market wants. -
Advice on MPV / 3 child seat friendly car 17 Mar 2025 (Forum)
Toyota Verso seems reliable but we saw one today and it feels a bit small and really unappealing. I've heard mixed things about the reliability of the Renault Scenic and the Citroen C4 Picasso and so I don't want that headache. I was previously looking at auto cars because my wife hasn't yet passed her test and has found learning VERY slow and difficult. However, it felt impossible to find an auto within budget due to things like unreliable auto gearboxes on so many of the cars above. -
Ford Focus - Ford TDCI limp mode issues 8 Jul 2021 (Forum)
Firstly sorry for the long read - I want to give as much info/diagnostics as I can to try and get to the bottom of this...Really hoping someone can give me some advice on this as its driving me mad here! So I have a 2008(58) Mazda 3 1.6d - using the Citroen HDi/Ford TDCI engine all mechanics seem to know and hate. Its Euro 4 so it has the EGR but no DPF. About a month ago it went into limp mode. It still drove but really struggled to get above 3k RPM and was very sluggish to pick up speed when driving.
