  • Cars with soul 21 Apr 2020 (Forum)
Yes I have been drinking and watching an old Top Gear DVD, a terrible combination to admit to but it gets me thinking of cars I loved yet shouldn’t, cars I know as a salesman would come back to bite me yet I loved them all the same. Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 - Based on a Fiat Tipo but with a monstrous V6 lump up front it was a recipe for disaster yet it looked wonderful and sounded fantastic which does forgive the nose heavy handling and terrible quality - sort of.
  • Cheques & Drafts 29 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I have seen a few roomers querying the risk (or otherwise) of accepting cheques/drafts for car sales. I quote below the new rules which came into force in November last year: Mind you, I still wouldn't accept one, even taking para three into account. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------- The UK banking industry has announced the start date for changes to cheque clearing processes.

There was a vacuum hose that runs up the left hand side of the head and around the back of a silvery cap thing that protrudes through the silver engine cover trim. It had been rubbing due to engine vibe on the silver cap and had worn trough. I replace the ~1m long pipe which went to something else mounted low on the left wing under the air intake trunking?

  • Hyundai i30 (2007 - ) - Review 20 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I paid another £130 for GAP insurance for 5 years and £10,000 of cover. This is my 25th vehicle to date - so hard to find a car one really likes - but I may well keep it for a while.
  • Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - 03 1.6 ABS pump 19 Aug 2009 (Forum)
I was confident the car would pass any inspection. At the end of the inspection I was given an estimate for £1700 plus VAT to 'put the car right'. I immediately took it to two garages for an independent inspection - both agreed with me the car was in good condition and had a very small amount of use - which they considered fair wear and tear.
  • Tokyo and Toyota 19 Jan 2003 (Forum)
The 5-minute stroll down the hill to the subway, through the falling leaves, could have been Wimbledon Park. I visited the world's largest car showroom, the showcase Toyota AMLUX covering 5 floors. Toyota has a bewildering selection of products in every category, every niche and micro niche. They seem to sell two or three times the number of different products than are available in the UK.
  • Any From The Guardian - Electric car short term lease 16 Mar 2021 (Forum)
As with Netflix, the contract automatically renews each month unless you cancel, meaning that as long as you keep paying, the car stays outside your house. Included in the monthly fee is the insurance, maintenance and servicing, tyres, breakdown cover, the London congestion charge registration – and charging at 11,000 public chargers.
  • Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.6i - Airbag light constantly off 9 Nov 2014 (Forum)
Ive not had this car for very long and it appears I may have done something a bit dumb. First let me say for the past 10 years Ive happily plodded around in my Pug 405 and thought seeing as I had some spare money I would get a newer car.
  • FIAT Stilo 1.6 2002 16V - Car keeps cutting out 28 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Before I left I checked the oil, and it was down a bit, so I topped it up. The car seemed ok before I left but didn't get more than about a half a mile before the same old problem re-occurs. The car is extremely jumpy on the needle when idling. I drove back home and the car cut out while stationary.
  • 2013 (13 Plate) Nissan Qashqai+2 (J10E) Petrol CVT - Nissan Qashqai+2 Piston slap after < 20,000 mil 1 Dec 2017 (Forum)
We then decided to use the car as our 'showroom' car so it has been in our showroom most of this time. Now the new Qashqai is out we now have the vehicle on the forecourt and up for sale.”   The test drive was fine, aside from the indicator being a bit quiet.
  • Mazda 6 - Complaint against false advertising accident care 5 Dec 2012 (Forum)
At the time of accident the car had only covered 33500 miles with full service history which is a sought after car in the used car market. Mazda's own used car website values similar low mileage, good condition cars high. The assessed value by Mazda Accident aftercare is 4700 pounds.
  • Help with an HPI report... 30 Mar 2013 (Forum)

  • Formula One in London 15 Jul 2004 (Forum)
At a local level the cost of staging a Grand Prix in London would be phenomenal. The TV shots of yesterday's fiasco showed the cars bouncing over drain covers, ruts and all sorts of assorted bumps. Wholesale resurfacing would have to take place. The forest of street furniture needing removed would employ more angle grinders and oxyacetylene cutters than exist.
  • Washing Machine - Robbing bar stewards. 27 Jan 2019 (Forum)
They confirmed that my card had been sorted and I could go back and pay, told them it was already paid for with another cars and ended the call. An hour later Visa rang apologising again and wanting to know if I wanted to start a case using the Ombudsman. Told them I was not happy but since it was now sorted I would not bother.
  • Any with stuck-fast-nasty-little-cross-head-screws - Un-Screwing 7 Sep 2016 (Forum)
(I do have a pretty comprehensive set of splined bits, which is no use to me since the car I got it for is gone.)   Ill-fitting bits are therefore a hazard, but I "auditioned" all my bits before hitting anything this time, and the one picked for the role seemed to fit pretty well.
  • 4 wheels a body and engine that moves. - Cheshire police. 23 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Once it goes into a 2 lane carriage way it is 70 mph, or no one could over take anyone and would reach the top of the hill at the same time as the car they are trying to over take. All they are their for is funds, not uphold the law, they desire and make their own laws and need funding to keep their station open. As if they don't have the funds the police station is closed.
  • Lexus, Toyota, GM, others - Hybrids - good to drive? how about 2nd hand 24 Jan 2014 (Forum)
Ideally I would like something that has been around a couple of years so I can look for a 2nd hand one at dealers, but when I did look at the 400h (and before deciding it was too big for me), I also learnt that most used car warranty schemes do not cover the electric power train of a hybrid (such as batteries). With the Prius now being around 10 years, its a good time to ask,  are Hybrids a risky second hand buy?
