Seeking advice : Want to start a muscle car import business 16 Feb 2017 (Forum)
My questions briefly are: Is the market already too crowded with too many importers? Am I just going to get myself into trouble? How big is the market? What's a realistic annual figure of units to shift? What kind of pre-tax profit margin can I expect to make on a business like this? -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace - Importing a previously registered UK car 5 Aug 2010 (Forum)
It was never registered in Greece, as it was over 10 years old and could not be registered. So how do I go about driving it back and re-importing the car, while staying legal and insured along the way? I'm under the impression that I'll need to get it re-registered in the UK to allow me to tax and insure it for the journey back, but I can't get tax without an MOT, and I can't get an MOT without it being in the UK. -
Do people actually CARE about their driv 17 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Is this lack of technique? I wonder if the problem is more to do with people not seeing driving as an important activity , it's just what you do between work and home or between seeing your customers .So it's not important to be good at it , and as it's dead time anyway you might as well shoehorn in some other activity at the same time. -

A week last Sunday, I agreed the purchase of a Leon TDI, dutch import from Motorpoint in Burnley. It was there in the showroom already but unregistered. I paid my £500 deposit and was told that the registration process would only take a few days and I "should" be able to pick it up Friday. -
VW Service Intervals 13 Apr 2004 (Forum)
I've been to my local VW dealer to confrm the above and see when it will need to be serviced - he took a strange amount of pleasure in telling me that as it was an import he could not tell whether it was set up on long life servicing even though he checked VW's database (nice to know the dealers have been feeling the pinch because of imports eh?). All in all he was not very helpful. -
Those wonderful Insurance people 27 Nov 2003 (Forum)

The person who phoned back says is the car an import?? I said ofcourse its an import all soarers are , she said "Oh i'll have to see what the insurance Co says" Now they gave me a quote for a Lexus Soarer .as they are all imports will this make a difference....i mean how did they give me a quoite in the first place and not know they are all imported??? -

VW Warranty Hassles 10 Oct 2002 (Forum)
More questioning fell on deaf ears they stuck to the orders are orders line from VW. I was also told that personal imports can only have a two year max warranty which can only be bought before the cars first birthday. However approved imports can buy warranty protection for up to 5yrs. Now all the cars are built in the same places to the same standards why the discrimination with a personal import. -

cloned car.or is it? 18 Jun 2013 (Forum)
a cloned car...to my way of thinking, is a car carrying markings (vin plate reg plate etc) replicating another car. but how about this........that a car is imported, and an application for registration is presented to a local dvla with a false Certificate of Conformity (CoC) and fake notes purporting to show that Import duties have been paid paid, plus a fake invoice from an overseas dealership...dvla then accept all these docs (perhaps at face value,it would be logical to presume so) and register the car (without ,claim dvla,a visual inspection) and so give it a number plate/V5...car is now sold through a high-end dealership. some months later the car is stolen.
