  I was wondering what the difference is between V-Power diesel and normal diesel fuel Is it like super unleaded petrol but for diesel (i.e. potential to make the car go a bit quicker) ? Sorry to sound thick but I genuinely do not know.

   If I prime the fuel using the hand primer in the engine bay I can see air bubbles moving in the clear fuel line.  It will then start and run fine. I think my mazda has had some aftermarket fuel lines added including the hand primer which I do not think is standard (I did read online a lot were replaced under warranty).

  Yes I have been stupid. I had both my partners car and my car to fill with fuel, mine is diesel 206 HDI 2L and hers is a 1.8 petrol. took my HDI first and put 20 L of unleaded in. Did not realise and drove home about a mile (no prplem up to now)and still not realising I had used the wrong fuel.

  I've noticed that my fuel economy has dropped by ~2-3mpg, and performance seems to have drooped off, since the forced change to Low Sulphur fuel. Is this normal or should I be looking elsewhere? Exactly the same occured with my previous Diesel car when City Diesel became available.

  But before you fork out for a new diesel pump or suction valve for the pump via Feather Diesel or wherever, I would advise you to check your diesel filter has been changed, this is why. My car had a full service history up until I bought it, but when we changed the fuel / diesel filter I found it to be very, very dirty inside and was also surprised to see it was a Denso fuel filter which lead me to believe it may never have been replaced from new, maybe some of you out there could tell me more?

  I finally succumbed to the marketing blurb and pulled my A6 TDI 2.5 Quattro alongside the BP Ultimate fuel pumps, 14 litres into the transaction I smelt petrol! The first time in 19 years of driving had I made the mistake of mixing fuels. A tow, £200 later and two days later I was refueled with the correct diesel grade and on my way, then I began chatting to friends etc. it seems there is a growing army of poor unfortunates like myself that have made an error at the BP Ultimate pump.

    I am using a glow plug style vegetable oil pre heater unit on a Citroen xantia with a bosch pump. My fuel mix is 80% new vegetable oil and 20% diesel. It was fine at first but now it stalls in the morning even as the engine gets hot. I then need to prime the engine/pump with the hand primer to get it started again.

  Their fuel economy was always poor anyway. Most likely reason is that they couldn't compete with other manufacturers on economy and price.
