  • Renault Megane Coupe - Shocked by Renault retail group Liverpool 11 Mar 2015 (Forum)
important;">He explained that he was not aware of the delve on the bonnet, but made a offer of £100 to drive the car away and that it would only cost £25 to fix the body work, i disagreed telling him that it would cost a lot more. Regarding the Fuel, there was only £10 in the tank, he tried to tell me there was £25, plus there was no car mats!!! All in all, I am shocked regarding Renault customer care, I should have been told about the delves in the body work, There should not expect a comment saying well its not a new car, Plus after arranging fuel and mats in with the deal, these should have been taken care off.
  • Any - Cheap way improve fuel economy by 10% ? 24 Sep 2014 (Forum)
I have developed and tested a simple method of imrpoving the overall fuel economy of my 1248 cc, NA supermini by around 5 mpg (10%) from 49 mpg to 54 mpg - based on careful 'brim to brim' measurements and meticulous petrol logs kept since purcasing the car from new over a 3 year period.
  • Renault Espace (2002 - ) - 05 2.2 DCi Auto poor fuel economy 9 May 2012 (Forum)
Hello - I just wandered if anyone in this forum can pass an informed eye on the fuel economy I am getting ( or not getting ) from my Sept 2005 Diesel Espace 2.2DCi (non-FAP apparently). It is a 5 speed Auto with the "tiptronic" option - i.e pushing the stick to the left turns it into a clutchless manual.
  • BMW 5-Series E60 (2003 - 2009) - 2006 2.0 Non existent Diagnostics 22 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Looked in the iDrive faults area and it had no reported faults and the car was back to normal - weird I thought, a minute ago the fuel pump was allegedly broken, the Cruise control had a fault and the start assist program had been started. Now the car is back to normal with no record of a problem?? The following morning I attempted to start the car again and was back to square one, fuel pump, cruise control faults, start assist message and the car on the ramp symbol on the dash board.
  • any - who adds 2SO to their diesel fuel 1 Jun 2011 (Forum)
I wonder if there are any motorists out there who add 2SO to their diesel fuel . Dont use red 2SO otherwise you have a job explaining why you have what appears as red diesel in the tank to a fuel dipper ! Extract  " due to the pollution control measures of the EC diesel-oil is nearly sulphur free and contains up to 5% of bio-diesel.
  • Vauxhall Vectra 1.7TD - cold starting problems 2 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Not that the 1.7TD has much scope for abuse, but that's a different thread altogether :) The last time I came to change the fuel filter (about 109,000 miles), when I put the new one on, the car became progressively more difficult to start, with lots of smoke when it did start. I put this down to air ingress into the fuel system due to me disturbing something, and went down to Vauxhall parts to ask them about it.
  • Audi a1 sport back 2011 - Cylinder 4 misfire 1.2 tfsi 24 Sep 2025 (Forum)
The 2 codes coming up are p030400(cylinder 4 misfire) & P130A00(cylinder disabled due to electrical fault) the Audi has been in 2 separate garages who cannot find the fault. Parts that have been replaced so far are 4 spark plugs, cabling, coil pack, fuel filter, crank sensor, fuel rail sensor. Has anybody had the same issue? Everything has been checked and double checked....would it be best to change the injector on cylinder 4?
  • Volvo C30 - Pat (Eolys) Fluid 10 Apr 2023 (Forum)
The diesel they removed from the car was a deep yellow/orange, so they think that the Pat fluid is not mixing into the diesel correctly, made worse by a small amount of fuel in the tank. They believe that I probably need a new Pat fluid sensor and need it calibrated so that the correct amount is put into the fuel. Anyone have any experience with this? The local garage say they can replace the tank and sensor, but Volvo would have to recalibrate so it would be better to get it fixed (at HUGE expense) by Volvo.
  • Suzuki Baleno help please 8 Aug 2022 (Forum)
Maybe the fuel filter IS clogged?
  • Vectra 2.0 DTI power problems 24 May 2022 (Forum)
This stays and pulses about every 3-5 seconds. when accelerating through the gears there is a hesitancy above 3500 rpm but it pulls well up to that point. It feels almost like Fuel starvation or a fuel supply problem, another hypothesis is a waste gate which is opening at too low a pressure point and then closing again. Vauxhall dealer has done a diagnostic on it and identified the mass airflow sensor and turbo pressure switch needing replacement.
  • Ford Fiesta Mk6 1.4 petrol - Fiesta electrical start up routine delayed/issue 10 Apr 2021 (Forum)
Upon switching the ignition key to the run position, (or in fact starting the engine), the display goes blank for about 15 seconds. Also, the temp and fuel gauges remain off. This also includes the radio not switching on. (The engine runs absolutely fine and continues to do so). After about 15 seconds, the LCD display switches on and displays correctly, the temp and fuel gauges go to their correct setting and the radio turns on.
  • Buying used car 20 Aug 2019 (Forum)
About petrol or diesel engine I have no idea, consider that usually my trips aren’t very long (commute is max 15/20 mins away plus local driving to shops in town) and I drive more during weekends (max 2 hours distance). One last thing is fuel consumption, I don’t mind paying a little something extra for fuel but it should be at least reasonable mpg if possible. PS : no bmw please, I like the comfort but rear traction isn’t my thing.
  • MK5 VW Golf 1.9 Diesel - Cranking but not starting 12 Jul 2019 (Forum)
This is what I’ve tried so far. I’ve had it plugged in to the computer and nothing comes up. I’ve changed the fuel pump relay. I’ve changed all 4 glow plugs. Had a new coolant temperature sensor on it. Serviced with new fuel filter. I’ve put some diesel cleaner additives through a full tank. Has anyone had anything the same?

  • Kia Sedona diesel 2.9 TS - Sedona cutting out at high revs 21 Jul 2017 (Forum)
Fuel filter has been changed, it's had a good service, the only other code is for one of the heating coils which is being done next week, but the mechanic assures me this isn't the problem. Any ideas?
  • Hyundai Tucson CRTD 2007 - Garage should have advised crank sensor replacemen 4 Oct 2016 (Forum)
Had the clutch and DMF replaced a month ago.  The car went in on the back of a recovery vehicle because after filling up with fuel and then a short journey, it would not start.  Apparently, at the garage,  the mechanic got it started after repeated attempts on the starter and diagnosed that perhaps I had let the fuel get too low.
  • Peugeot Partner Tepee - What tyres? 20 Nov 2015 (Forum)
The current tyres (205/65 R15 94H) are Michelin Energy Savers, which i believe are rated C for fuel economy and B for wet grip. Having looked around online, i see the Dunlop Sport Bluresponse and Hankook Kinergy K425 in my size are both rated B fro both fuel economy and wet grip. Would i be better getting either of these as replacements for the Michelins or should i stay with what i already have?
  • VW Golf III - VW 1993 AAM inlet manifold relay clicking+stalling 18 Jun 2015 (Forum)
It has just had a new throttle idle control motor unit and coolant temperature sender. Also it has had good second hand inlet manifold preheater and fuel pump relays. To give you an extra clue after the engine has cut out the fuel tank vent valve behind the airbox clicks in time with the inlet manifold preheater relay. Any ideas would be most gratefully received.
  • Ford Fiesta - Distance to empty gauge 15 Apr 2014 (Forum)
We bought a 63 plate Fiesta at the end of last year. My wife drives it and she noticed that when the warning light/chime for low fuel came on at around 50 miles left, the miles she continued to drive did not match the mileage countdown figures on the dial. I thought it might be the way she drove the car. I drove it yesterday and the low fuel light and chime came on at 50 miles left.
  • Vectra 2.0 DTI 16V Low Power 18 Mar 2014 (Forum)
The car has just passed the mot and when smoke tested it was well under the pass limit which makes me think the fuel pump is not delivering full fuel, is there any way to test these fly by wire pumps without selling my house and using a vauxhall dealer as it seems with these engines they have no idea what is wrong when the ecu light is not on.If anyone can shed some light on the problem please let me know as apart from low power the car is great.
