Ford Fiesta - MK7 TDCI Turbo failure 7 Jun 2020 (Forum)
Ive heard lots of horror stories about the turbos failing on the engine due to the engineering between the hoses, the sump and the turbo (its the same as in the mini, pug hdi, citroen etc ive been told?) From what ive read it seems that they are "garrett" (if ive spelt right) turbos. However..... -
Hyundai Tucson 2.0 Diesel - Advice used cars: 2 more years or double mileage? 7 Apr 2019 (Forum)
I plan to upgrade my old 14 y.o. Citroen C3 for a car slightly bigger and more reliable and I've found two Hyundai Tucson for what it seems a good price. Both are "Hyundai Tucson 2.0L CRTD CDX", both have had two previous owners, booth look in quite good conservation and both prices are around £2500, their main differences are: 1) 115.000 mi and 12 years (2007) 2) 65.000 mi and 14 years (2005) The next week I will test them, but assuming that they "feel" similar, what is your advice? -
BHP Doesn't mean much 16 Mar 2018 (Forum)
When I first started as an old bill 40 years ago we had Escort 1100s as panda cars. (?60 something bhp?). Adequate when driven properly. 2001 I bought a Citroen Xsara 1.4, 75 bhp on a deal and used it for work (blues and twos fitted). Never felt it was too slow. I read with interest the HJ review of the latest Picanto. 67 bhp I think, but plenty of power, combined with good handling. -

xsara picasso hdi 2L 52 plate - fanbelt issues 18 Jun 2015 (Forum)
hi all, i have issue with fanbelt on my xsara picasso hdi 2L, for some reason the fan belt flaps between the crankshaft pully and compressor, i have replaced the following: crankshaft pully+idle guide pully+tensioner (over 12 months ago)+power steering pump+ 3 belts. all the obove have been changed between 12 to 18 months. i took the car to a alternator specialist to check the pully but he said it was ok, i also spoke to citroen specialist and he advised me to try a down size belt to one i have so i did. when i put the downsize belt on the flapping went but the self tensioner vibrates, but after a day it returns to flapping, i have noticed that tho problem is worse when the car is at idle, as soon as you put some revs on the flapping stops but the tensioner still vibrates. could someone please help me with this issue as i cant afford to keep throwing money at this car anymore. i have also notice when the aircon is on the flapping is worse but the aircon works great. at this point im tempted to replace the tensioner as i have checked all ather pullys. -
Honda FR-V 1.8 iVTEC Auto - Winter Tyres - User report 19 Jan 2013 (Forum)
We live in a cul-de-sac of three houses, approached by a road of approx. 100metres and a medium incline. The snow on our road was enough to defeat the neighbours FWD Citroen Picasso this morning after the school run. It's currently parked at the bottom. However, the FR-V on winter boots ascended up to our house without any issue whatsoever. That's the first time I've driven winter tyres on a 2WD car on a snowbound road. -
Any large diesel estate - Ride comfort 24 Jan 2012 (Forum)
I know this subject has been done to death but I haven't yet seen a really objective answer that meets my needs. I have been running hydropnumatic citroens for the last 25 years or so and have got used to there excellent ride, my last XMs are coming to the end of their lives and I am looking for a suitable secondhand large estate car that has a good ride. -

Car Manufacturer's Poor Websites 3 Jun 2008 (Forum)
It's all the worse for us Mac users, most designers seemingly don't even consider that someone may use the site from anything other than a PC. Just aborted an attempt to use both the Ford and Citroen configuration functions because they simply didn't work for me! I could go on, I recently stopped dealing with a certain online IFA because their site was hopeless in the Mac / Safari world - security not working, nothing sized correctly etc. - the reply to my complaint was a whole list of instructions on how set up IE7 on a PC! -
Modern Diesels, maintenance and passing MOT 25 Oct 2007 (Forum)
I am considering buying a modern diesel, particualrly either Toyota avensis, honda accord or Mazda6, and was wondering what the position was with these newer-style diesels when they start to get past their first flush of youth, and the mileage racks up, and they have to get through the emiisions test on the MOT. My father used to have an old-style diesel (Citroen XM 2.5TD) and I always remember him getting rather twitchy near MOT time, putting in injector cleaner, and thrashing it down the bypass before the test to clean it up. The older diesels used to be either worn/clogged injectors and/or diesel pump calibration that caused excess emssions/smoke, or possibly blocked filters. -
Long term seat comfort-how to tell? 17 Jul 2007 (Forum)
How can you assess long term comfort from a test drive where aches might not set in? Only previous car to give me this was a Citroen saxo I had from new with its small offset pedals and cheap seats that flattened. I found I was sitting twisted with that one. Omega should be a comfortable old barge! Yours confused, David. -
Toyota & Honda Diesel Longevity 12 Feb 2007 (Forum)
s petrol engines are pretty bulletproof and good for £150k + ( I have an old petrol toyota now) but will this carry onto the new diesel engines ? My dad had one of the old-style citroen diesels and I know injectors and glow-plugs need replacing after a while. WHat is the likelylifespan of these components and whats the replacement costs on the Jap diesels ? Is work on these a specialist job, as I know older diesels needed injectors calibrating with special equipment. -
An answer to my wife's need for a car 11 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Her last car cost about £400 a year just to insure, so on this basis she could have a Whizzgo car for 70-80 hours a year. The only major downside is you have to drive Citroen C3 (only joking!!). Is anyone a member of such a scheme and is it as cost effective as it appears? -
Reliable, cheap French car - possible? 3 Aug 2006 (Forum)
I am prepared to spend a couple of thousand pounds to get me a pretty reasonable run-about. But what to buy? I like the idea of a Citroen Xsara Picasso (horrible to look at, but it will do the job) and could maybe get a 80000 mile Y reg or 51 for just over £2k. A Berlingo or similar looks more pricey. It would want to be french and a hatchback, estate or MPV for the dump trips. -
Cheap runaround 19 Jun 2006 (Forum)
So far, my options are: 1. Get a pre-registered/ex-demo 'small car' - I've narrowed this down to VW Fox, Citroen C1(plus relatives), Fiat Panda. The plan would be to run for 4 years, chop in for another, thus hopefully meaning we won't be hit with anything other than a yearly service. Depreciation might be more of an issue. 2. -
Personal Leasing? 27 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Okay, servicing over the 75,000 miles will be down to me but I don't see that as a problem (especially as the maintenance option added £65 a month to the lease cost!) Does anyone have any opinions on going down the lease route, and if a heavily discounted Citroen is the way forward to bring the lease cost down? Cheers, DB -

non-fault accident - classic car policy 25 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I was recently (Friday) hit from the rear in my 1982 Citroen Dyane. I was sat in a traffic jam, driver behind was tending to her child in the rear seat and hit the o/s/r corner of my car. Upshot of this is that the car is probably an insurance write-off.
