  • jaguar x-type/ Ford Momdeo - caliper rebuild 7 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Hi. To dismantle the rear caliper hand brake section I need to remove a pentagonal nut. Apparently the same caliper is fitted to a 2003/4 mondeo estate. Does anyone know what size socket is required? On ebay it is possible to get 5 point sockets for Bendix brakes but I believe that mine are Bosch.

I live near Birmingham  Airport and am looking for a mechanic that can fully service my car without having to  takde it to a garage. I may also need brake pads and brake shoes replacing in the neasr future.  It has recently in September passed the MOT.  I can't stretch to paying the garage  £40.00 an hour fees.

  • Ford Puma 1.7 - Handbrake Problem 6 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I have a problem with the handbrake on my Puma i.e. it will not hold on both rear wheels. I have changed the brake shoes and free'd off the adjusters. I have changed the brake cables and adjusted the handbrake but it still will not hold equally on both wheels. One wheel holds better than the other but on a hill it will not safely hold the car.

  • Citroen - 'Orrible lights on a citrowen. 27 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I followes a cirtroen for a while tonight. Strange backside, like an old Volvo estate stretched vertically by about a foot. Normal brake lamps, odd-looking lamps up the "pillars", and when the brakes applied a fat line of red along the whole roof line, side to side. Most 'orrible and distracting, complete overkill, hard to see anything else further in front.
  • Thanks for the warning 30 Nov 2008 (Forum)
professionally signwritten on the back of a Citroen C4 this afternoon - "Keep Well Back" "Harsh Unpredictable Braking" speaks volumes to me ;-) We would all, I assume, give the gent in question more than enough room, but assuming someone were to rear-end him and claim he had braked harshly and unpredictably, whats the likely outcome.

  • volvo S70 T5 warning lights 21 Mar 2007 (Forum)
The TRACS off and ABS warning lights appear together after a twenty mile (aprox.) run in the warmer months. The driver manual states this to be caused by overheating brakes, but inspection shows all brake assemblies are fine. It also happened for the first time when the car was left in the sun for 3 hours last week. Could there be a faulty sensor under the bonnet causing the problem?

  • single pedals in cars 9 Aug 2006 (Forum)
I'm sure I watched an article about the developement of a single pedal for driving so one movement accelerates and the opposite movement applies the brakes, all on the same pedal. As someone who recently miss judged the distance between accelerator and brake, with near dire consequences, on a rarely used vehicle, why has this design not been developed and bought in as a standard design, it seems too obvious not to be a great idea
