  Is there a very good reason NOT to change the oil on my Mondeo TDCI estate every 6,000 miles? The service interval is 12,000. I want this car to last past 200,000 miles.   I had the car serviced yesterday and they changed all the spark plugs. Apparently there was oil in there. I sent hubby out to check that they indeed had changed them and there was oil in there. I have driven 6miles since they were changed. Any help?

  Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere but after 15 years of owning Cits with XUD engines I have aquired the habit of giving them an oil and filter change every 5000 miles. My wife has graduated to an HDi and when I changed my oil yesterday she asked whether I was going to do her car's. When checking her oil I have noticed that it remains much cleaner looking than mine and the level hasn't dropped a mm in 5000 miles.

  I've just bought a draper slimline oil drain pan so I did an oil change on my deisel bmw yesturday. I let it drip for ages but when I refilled with oil the castrol website specifys 6.7 litres of oil yet I've poured in 6.4 litres and the level is now in the middle of the marker on the dipstick.
