  • Positive (only) aspects of UK motoring 16 Feb 2010 (Forum)
You can see where Heath and Safety regulations come from when you consider that, as it was the same here a few decades back and car manufacturers thought nothing of harm to drivers or others in car design. Traffic just chokes the streets in Tacloban and it`s a free for all. It`s pretty good, motoring in the UK - although the `negative feeding` personalities of many people cause the generation of tabloid rubbish that is eagerly lapped up as `truth` The question is - can a 100 post thread be generated that`s entirely positive about UK motoring?
  • Volvo V70/XC70 (2000 - 2007) - 02 2.5 Failed pulley wheel & cracked engine casing 23 Jul 2009 (Forum)
No doubt the replacement engine that is looming will cost more than the value of the car, but I cannot afford a new car and bought this one to last me 10 years plus. Its is imaculate and dealer serviced with 126,000 on the clock and nothing else wrong with it. Where do I stand legally?
  • Emergency kit in the boot 24 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Time to revise what I carry in the boot! What would you suggest is reasonable to carry? The subject has been covered before but it finished up needing a trailer to carry the suggested kit. So lets start from basics. What can go wrong and what do you need to do something about it or fix it? What can happen to the car that YOU can do something about?
  • Golf Mk2 GTI - Forcibly expelled coolant 24 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Hi all I've mentioned this problem on another thread, but it probably warrants being covered seperately. I have a high-miled Mk2 Gti 8v that has recently had a temeperature sender replaced to cure an idling problem. The car now idles well, but upon collecting from the garage the expansion bottle was empty.
  • Ford Kuga Titanium X - Where do i stand legally 11 Jan 2019 (Forum)
My problem is this.I brought a Ford Kuga Titanium X from Hendy Fords in Eastleigh last July. When we had some bad weather in September the car starting letting in water from the sunroof area.I informed Hendys about this. And was told by the salesman i dealt with that it was the drains and that I had to get them cleaned out. After a bit of a rant on their Facebook page.Their service manager arranged for me to take the car down to their lot.And they would sort it for me.The car has leaked on me a total of 4 times now.I've also added an extra 400 miles of unnecessary mileage to the car.
  • KIA Carens - Second hand car issues. What are my rights? 22 Apr 2015 (Forum)
We bought a Kia Carens 06 Diesel on the 28th January. Full service history (bar 1 stamp), 1 owner, tidy car, seemed fine £1750). I've always bought 2nd hand cars as been brought up with them and usually pick well. This time I think I was obscured by the fact we were desperate for a new car. We bought from a car dealer, doesn't have a forecourt but is a registered trader with a registered company.
  • Not declared - Car written off due to manufacturing defect - help 9 Mar 2012 (Forum)
If you can't trust a Dealer of the Year, who can you trust. As well as my car and the other they have for sale there is a third car which has recently been sold and that would also require modification. If you value your customers' lives so lightly you should not be in business!
  • Deposit on used car deal 14 Aug 2005 (Forum)
We agreed to give him £8000 and the balance would be paid on completion of the work. We left a bankers draft and drove the car home. We had hardly got a mile from the car lot when the car cut out. Any attempt to give it any throttle would result it cutting out with a bang and the ECU light coming on. (It was ok on the initial testdrive.)
  • Audi a3 cabriolet - Audi a3 cabriolet..problems after problems 31 Jul 2015 (Forum)

  • Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - Car seats - not what they used to be... 15 Jul 2008 (Forum)
He went on to explain that his friend works for a company supplying equipment to J-----n C-----s that make car seats (and other items for cars) in Europe. Apparently, most EU car makers have now sub-contracted their car seat manufacture to this company who makes them for the GM group (Fiat, Vauxhall/Opel) and Ford.
  • mondeo 2003 tdci 116 hp - mondeo diesel issue log 20 Dec 2011 (Forum)
reason the seals are weak symptom :pedal will descend overnite   => replace  - loss of coolant reason the stupid design of the engine cover front edge  will rub on the overflow pipe and will cut it  causing  sudden coolant loss = replace overflow pipe and cut off the corner of the cover - irregular idle and loss of power the air mass sensor will get dirty and give a poor reading => clean with brake cleaner   - the engine will smoke ( black  not white )and idle poorly. loss of power => the bypass recyling port on the egr valve has gone oval and is letting recirc gasses through all the time  => replace or clean out with brake cleaner and a wire brush - diesel fuel  on the top of the engine ( may also have a flashing glow plug light ) reason possible rubber pipe crack, or in my case wear in the seat of the hp  injector lines where they mate to the injector body, you can see the tracking in the line base : amazing !!!
  • Citroen C4 Picasso 2l Blue HDi manual diesel 2015 - "Engine fault, arrange repair" warning light 4 Feb 2023 (Forum)
After about 10 minutes the problem disapears and does not reappear while the engine is warm infact even if the outside temperature remains low even if restarting the vehicle after a few hours the fault does not reappear, only when it is left to fully cool down say overnight. I have had the car from new, it has covered 63k easy miles, is fully dealer serviced. The driving in mainly in 70 or 100 mile runs mainly dual carriageway or motorway with no stop start journeys, and averages 54 to 58 mpg.
  • Ford Fiesta Saloon - Parking warning - Royal Albert Hall, Imp College 27 Jan 2011 (Forum)
When visiting the Royal Albert Hall by car, you can pre-book parking at the Imperial College carpark for around £8. It's handy and it's close to the hall Be warned though, Westminster Council under-cover parking officers will be waiting for you.
  • My new way to save some diesel 28 Jun 2006 (Forum)
It will take me a a few minutes longer to get to and from work, but why should this bother me. This could be a seasonal thing, so if its wet, cold or dark I shall resort to the car. Also on Thursday's I will still use my car as I have to collect my daughter from her dance class. The distance to and from work is about four and a half miles on relatively level ground, half on a quiet country lane, the balance on a main road.
  • K-Series Engine Cooked - Advice 19 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Hi all, I am working on a Rover 25 K-Series engine, when the car was brought into the garage it was pressurising from the oil filler cap (or rocker cover). A compression test was carried out on the engine just to see what figures we were getting NO 1 cylinder:40psi, No2:55, No3: 35, No4:120 - Something was evidently very wrong with the engine.
  • SEAT Arona - Reject car - my rights ? 25 Mar 2025 (Forum)
The original dealer claimed the other garage were being pedantic and promised to honour the warranty but insisted I get the vehicle to them at a cost to me of £336 for recovery from one garage to the other. I also incurred costs to travel by train to Crewe to collect a courtesy car.  The original  SEAT dealership has agreed to reimburse the recovery cost but have yet to pay this despite two emails requesting they do so. They have also been asked to cover the train cost but have yet to agree to this.

I have limited funds is it worth me buying a warranty in the hope of them fixing it. I can record the noise if need be. My friend who knows more about cars than me said it not the actual Turbo but more like a leak.
