Ford Ka 2010 - Rear suspension mounting 19 Feb 2015 (Forum)
My partners 2010 Ford Ka has just failed an MOT with corrosion to the nearside rear suspension mounting point for the rear axle, the corrosion has cause the part of the bracket which holds the near side rear brake pipe and also handbrake cable to fail. This allowed the brake pipe and cable to hang down beneath the car just in front of the near side rear wheel. We took the car to the Ford dealer from which the car was purchased approximtely 2 years earlier and after inspecting the failed bracket and the corrosion they couldn't have cared less. -
Any - Cheap brake wind back kits and vacuum pumps 9 Aug 2012 (Forum)
This is a question of cost/quality I guess... I need to get brake wind-back kits for the rear calipers on my Focus and the Mrs's Scenic. There's a Laser wind back tool for around £20 which will do the scenic, and an adaptor for the Ford for another £9ish. -

Audi A4 (B6) - Audi A4 (B6) ABS light, no fault codes - help! 2 Feb 2012 (Forum)
2004 A4 B6 Avant 130k... the usual Bosch ABS system and predictably it has failed. Message centre flashing "BRAKES!" and ABS lamp plus flashing hand brake lamp, as would be expected from this unit when it goes down. However, when scanned with dealer software, and then again with VAG.com, there are NO fault codes whatever on the car! -

It never ever happens while moving....and recently passed MoT with no problems. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 02 2.0 Petr Vibration under HEAVY braking 1 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Hi again everyone. My 2.0l Durateq Mondeo has started vibrating the steering wheel only on heavy braking at motorway speeds. In the past on my other cars, this has turned out to be seized caliper guide pins, but I believe worn discs can also be to blame. The pads all round were last changed 35k miles ago. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2000 1.6 Squeaky rear brakes & whine from clutch 27 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I have a 2000 1.6 zetec focus which has had a very annoying (and somewhat embarrasing) squeaking noise from the rear drums every time i brake.. Whether hot/cold, rain/shine, it always happens! Its getting louder and becoming quite annoying when in traffic or driving through town. It happens when i press the brake pedal and happens again when i depress the pedal. -
Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 1998 2.0 Loss of braking while driving? 5 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Did seem to lose power but thought I'd just be very careful and stick to 60mph. Didn't realise until I got to M27 slip road that I had NO BRAKES! Pedal wouldn't move and brkaes as good as useless. Very scary and somehow we got home (crawling and being extremely careful!) Started car this morning and its idling is very rough which is new. I have checked the brake fluid reservoir which is ok and the hose on this and the black cylinder behing it seem to be connected? -
Vauxhall Corsa C (2000 - 2006) - 04 1.3cdti is it a burnt clutch? or burning rubber 30 Apr 2008 (Forum)
So i was driving along a rain in quite wet conditions, at about 50mph, appraoching a junction and i began to brake and then realised maybe i had left it a bit too late to stop in time, so i braked quite heavily. The car skidded for about 10 metres but then the ABS kicked in and it came to a halt alright. I drove another few miles and got to my destination. -
98 Vectra wear on one brake pad 20 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Yesterday an unusual noise slowly started seemingly from the front N/side wheel on my 98 Vectra diesel. Difficult to describe but like a low frequency brake squeal. Gradually got worse and was there intermittently particularly at slow speed when not using the brakes. Arrived home and removed the wheel trims and found the hub cap very hot on the O/side (not where the noise was coming from). -

Golf Mk3 VR6 judder under braking 18 Jul 2006 (Forum)
The juddering is much worse if i am braking on an incline, e.g approaching a roundabout. Sometines feels like the steering wheel is about to come off in my hands. 3. Whilst driving on a smooth surface, going straight, my steering wheel constantly rotates left-right-left very slighlty. 4. -
tyre tests 30 Aug 2005 (Forum)
(Yes, I know about Tyres-Online) And - while we are on the subject of tyres - if different tyres have different braking characteristics, does that mean that when car mags like What Car test the braking of cars, the difference between different cars may be due more to the OEM tyres fitted than to the brakes themselves? -
Worn pads highlights new problem? 9 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Hi Guys I think I have a sticking caliper on my '93 Honda CRX and I wanted a second opinion. I have noticed a slight judder under heavy braking for sometime and after heavy braking the brakes would be less responsive. Over the last couple of days the pad on the right front side has given up and started to make a really nasty grinding noise. -
Honda brake lights 3 Jul 2001 (Forum)
I would welcome some assistance to help solve the brake light problem on my honda. The dashboard is fitted with a safety indicator which informs the driver if a door is not closed properly or a brakelight bulb has burned out etc. Each side at the rear has a brakelight sensor unit fitted in series with the brakelight circuit. -
