2008 VW Polo 1.4 - Gearbox Synchro 25 May 2017 (Forum)
It's an old-ish car so I'm not prepared to have the synchro replaced, and it's just a car I use to get to and from work (about 31 miles a day, extra-urban ish). What's the absolute worst that'll happen if I keep driving it? -
Jaguar X-Type - Smell while using cluth more frequently 2 Dec 2015 (Forum)
In my Jaguar X-Type 2.0d (2005) I keep noticing an increasing smell as I have to stop and start/use clutch more frequently. It is not exactly a burning smell, it smells more like "old cheese". It doesn't smell at all when I drive fluently (outside a busy traffic or on motorways). The car was with a technician because of another matter recently and he didn't find any problem even though he tested the car. -
Volkswagen Golf VI - MK6 Golf 1.6 TDi - Possible clutch issue 17 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Also today when I was taking off at a roundabout it had 'stumbled' slightly when the clutch was released? (the car wasnt up to temp at this point either) The car is very quiet whilst ticking over, doesnt sound like my old car which had a faulty DMF. Could it be a faulty release bearing? Cheers -
Audi A3 Sportback - Ex Driving Instructor Car / Dual Controls 3 Mar 2014 (Forum)
Have just bought (two weeks ago) an 18 month old ex lease car from a dealer. Having paid for it and gotten it back home I noticed that it seems to have had dual controls fitted at some point and then removed before it was sold to me. This fact was not communicated to me by the dealer I found this out myself. -

Rules on declaring write-offs (?) 16 Nov 2013 (Forum)
So, what are the rules on declaring a write-off. My girlfriend sold her old car yesterday. When the guy came to pick it up, he informed my girlfriend it had been previously written off as a Cat-C. Luckily the guy said he wasn't too bothered about it, but that if she had noticed it, she could have taken the garage that sold it to court. -

The car was 6 years old. The problem has now started again after only 3 years (the warranty on replacement parts expires after 2 years). Has anyone else experienced this problem and could there be an underlying problem which causes premature failure? -

Hyundai ix35 - part exchange 7 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Hi, can you please advise me, I ordered a Hyundai ix35 on 15th May, with an expected delivery date of 31st July. When I placed the order the dealer agreed a part exchange price for my old car which he put in writing on the invoice, with the outstanding balance due to be paid at the time of delivery. (less my £500 deposit). Have been told the car has just arrived in the UK and should be with me in a couple more weeks, however dealer is now implying that he will not honour the original part ex price which I have in writiing on the invoice, my car is in the same condition it was when he agreed the price - can he do this ? -

Nissan Micra K12 - Intelligent Key 7 Jun 2010 (Forum)
If I then press the unlock door button on the key fob again, I can then start the engine but the Red "Key" signal flashes a few times and goes out until I park the car and have to restart it again. Is this a sign that the battery in the key fob needs replacing? The manual is not very clear about this. I have had the car 2.5 months. It is 5 years old. -
Sister needs another car 29 May 2010 (Forum)
Her main choices would be a Ford Focus, Peugeot 307( I am advising her that pre 55 plate ones can be very troublesome) and a Vauxhall Astra. My advice to her would be the Focus and Astra are decent enough cars, but maybe to go for an old shape Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla as these are generally very reliable. What plate model of these would she be able to buy as she's not bothered about engine size or the best equipped one? -

Proton - 93 GLS Leaking sunroof 28 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Afternoon, I have bought a Proton GLS, saloon car, registered 1993, from a very well known internet auction site. The car has full service history and an old lady had it from new. I only paid £415 for the car with twelve months MOT, however, the sunroof is leaking, I don't want to remove it, is there a product that I can buy on the web, where I can put the tube into a caulking gun and fill between the glass and rubber seal and fill the drain channels, I won't use the sunroof after this, I just want to stop the leak.
