  • Time to start the debate again..driver re-tests... 13 Aug 2012 (Forum)
A driver should meet a similar standard requirement. A driver is tested just once, and then has access, finance permitting, to cars of all sizes and power for the rest of their lives, regardless of how much their road skill and knowledge lapses over time. Also, one's health and living standards (eg. obesity and effects of long term alcohol consumption) can directly affect their driving skills.
  • Buying a Fiat 500 - what engine? 30 Jan 2012 (Ask HJ)

  • peugeot 1007 - Car clocking ,legal responsobility 1 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I paid cash for the car .Had it mot,d serviced ,fixed a few minor faults .then sold it via autotrader .the car was showing 47000 miles ,and was advertised on e bay with the same 47000 miles.thier was no service history with the car .i kept a copy of the e bay add ,did an hpi check ,and checked with peugeot uk .peugeot dont keep centralised records .they could only tell me that the car had been supplied to a finance company . im guessing that the car had been supplied on a non service lease . i rang 3 garages in the general area that the car had been registered to .non had a record of the car being serviced by them .
  • How hard is is to buy a new car? 27 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Dealer goes away and then another hour later calls back saying they can't get a Cayman Blue 4WD and only have two other 4WD models available, neither colour was one I (and more importantly my wife) liked. Again I say I'd wait, but dealer says not possible because the finance deal I got (0%) may not be available then. I was given 5 more minutes to discuss this with my wife, and we agreed we would take neither. Dealer didn't ring back and is now closed for the day. When they do ring back, order will be canceled and they'd better refund me PDQ.
  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - Need some help/advice with this. 3 Sep 2008 (Forum)
On 28th January 2008 I purchased a two year old Ford Focus 1.6 Hatchback from my local Ford main dealer. I purchased the car on finance through the dealer using my part ex and some cash as a deposit. This car has had several faults and has been back to the dealer 15+ times (lost count) to have various things sorted including; - Water leak in spare wheel well. - Poor fuel economy/sluggish acceleration (fixed by updating ECU). - Faulty CD Player (replaced, still faulty). - Bits of trim falling off.
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1998 2.0d - conrod failure. 5 May 2008 (Forum)
I spoke to the local Peugeot garage and the Service Manager said Peugeot will NOT admit liability. So at that present time it is at a friends FORD garage, but has not been touched. I rang my Finance Company, whom are being very supportive and want me to pay for an independent guy to go out and take a look, but again they want the engine stripped out! Should I just cut my losses and put a recon/new engine in - cause I think this is what is going to happen perhaps 2 months down the line anyway or shall I just fight it to the bitter end, bearing in mind I am now car-less and supermarket shopping on foot or on local buses!!!!!

  • Peugeot 3008 - Lease Car - Mechanical fault during (non)delivery 19 Jun 2024 (Forum)
I have taken out a 2 year lease (not PCP/.finance etc) on the 3008, which made financial sense for us given our particular circumstances.  The car was not delivered on the day, and on inquiring with lease company late afternoon, they said that the dealer advised that the car developed a mechanical fault on its way.

  • Bring back the Motorshow 13 Aug 2020 (Forum)
I left the trade shortly after as I could see the way it was heading. White goods bought on never-ending finance then thrown away at the end with no equity retained. I was never good at selling something I didn’t believe in. I wish the car show would return but it’s been sadly killed by the PCP/Contract lease and the never-ending above inflation rise in costs these events attracted.
  • Golf GTD - Buying a Golf GTD 31 Aug 2019 (Forum)
I’ve found one, which looked perfect, barre the mileage (which I was a little uncomfortable with, but it was the only negative when I first looked) that sits around the 70K mark.    After hashing out a deal with a big-name dealer, I’m financing the car at £250 a month, which includes 2 year Warranty, Servicing, MOT and Paint/Cloth protection. Perfect for my budget.   After putting down a reservation deposit, the dealer rings to say there’s a couple things that need fixing on the car (a scratch on the bumper and new plates needed) and it’ll be with me.
  • Car purchase from private seller 11 May 2019 (Forum)
Escalated to HCW & enforcement agents called 3 times but the door was not answered at defendants address & all vehicles parked at the property were on finance. In December I received a letter from a solicitor acting for defendant claiming he did not receive claim form as the address used was his parents & not his. Set aside hearing was last month & dismissed by judge as no defence filed.
