  Or should I start saving up now for some new discs? I don?t notice anything substandard about the degree of braking available, although I have not tried an emergency stop. (I realise that my questions may be seen as being similar to asking ?How long is a piece of string??!) -- L\'escargot by name, but not by nature.

  I reported this to my local Honda dealer who had the car in for a check. Work was carried out to the rear disc brakes which I believe involved removal of the brake pads for dressing and chamfering of the edges. The remedial work lasted about 10 days before the noise returned. I understood the dealer to say that there had been a directive from Honda on this problem.

  Is this scrape because the new pads need too bed in because they are all new? Bearing in mind they are mintex m1144 pads. Brakes feel brilliant other than that slight noise   Cheers

  After approx 5 miles on A road + 1 jn on Mway, braking was juddery enough for my wife to come home. So I had a look at the caliper expecting to find it seized or binding in some way. Disc was hot enough to turn water to steam. Left it a bit & caliper came off fine, pads came out grubby but also fine except for the groove in them chock full of dust & debris.

  Hello all, I am having difficulty locating front brake backplates for my Corsa, Having tried all the usual factors, I  resorted to the dealership who could only source one side and at a staggering cost of 78.50 pounds plus vat per side I declined.

  I keep getting a warning sign showing on central information display that there is a abs brake fault when I start the car but nothing shows on the instrument panel on the dashboard. The warning goes off as quick as it takes to read and doesn't come on again, the car has been into the local Ford garage for a full check and they cannot find anything wrong.

  Just noticed that my brake light, fog light and tail light aren't working on the passenger side of my 57 plate Zafira 1.6 Life. However, the indictator and reversing light are fine. I can't see how 3 bulbs have blown at once so suspect it may be a fuse.

  I've just bought a new BMW 116 DE, and have been offered the service plus 5 year/60,000 mile package for £1,285, this include all servicing and brake pads/discs/wiper blade replacement. Not sure whether this is a good deal, as don't know what to expect to pay for replacment brakes and how many I'll get through. I can also just take the servicing pacakge without the brake pads/discs/wiper blade replacement for £300.

  Hi, I wonder why some garages (independent, not main dealers) quote something like £45-65 for brake fluid change, £60-80 for coolant change where some others just add around £10-20 or so for both? The one that came with recommendations quoted £87 (inc vat)  for coolant change and when I questioned the price they said this was because they do a proper flush etc.

• 03 mazda 6 2.0 diesel - Rear O/S brake sticking 14 Feb 2011 (Forum)
  I've a 03 mazda 6 diesel. I noticed last week after a cold night the rear passenger brake was sticking and cooked after a 12 mile trip. Its sticking now on and off. We have a steep drive so the handbrake gets plenty of use. What I am wondering is before I drop it into the mechanic, what is the most likely problem - handbrake cable, or the caliper.

  wanting info please on my nightmare car faults....just been to the garage for brake pad change and new key initiation now the dash is saying theres a parking brake fault and the red triangle symbol, the mechanic has tried to clear this but cant so has told me that the whole unit needs replacing as its obviously a fault along with the dephaser at a cost of £1000, the warning wasnt there and parking brake worked fine before this, can this be cleared without replacing the whole unit???

  Apart from that the steering feels fine and there is no wobbles or pulling to one side when not braking. Also the brakes seem great at low speeds. Any ideas?

  But ISTR that this car is based on the same platform as the Hyundai Elantra, which is also the base for the Coupe. I've seen numerous posts on here complaining of expensive brake disc replacements on these due to having to remove the wheel bearings to get to them, causing the job to take far longer than it really should. Is this restricted to the Coupe itself, or is it all cars on this platform?

  My 2003 car had the brake pads and discs changed at the dealers at 44,000 miles - and now after a service at another gargae (non-dealer) I'm told that I need a new set of discs and pads again - this at 75,000 miles (cost around 280 pounds - again!).

  Hi. I have to replace a leaking rear brake cylinder and am told there are two different ones used on this model. Slightly different bore size. While I'm in there I will change the shoes and both cylinders but looking at the new cylinders there is no obvious difference between them.

  Hi Guys, hoping someone can help. I have a 2000 Nissan Primera P11E 2.0TD which is binding the rear disc brakes. Initially it was only the near-side but has since overheated the offside also. Pads were changed about a year ago and were refitted with shims and copper grease etc. Pads are definetely not tight and the handbrake was loosened off.

  Ive changed the wiper stalk thinking it was that but didtnt solve it. Is it likely to be the motor or the wiring? 2nd the brakes on my mothers car were looked at last year and have good pad and disc life. The fluid was also changed. However when pulling up to stop theres a knocking/juddering noise heard and felt in the pedal.

  Hi all I have a Focus which is in need of front brake disc replacement. I have read that pads should be changed at the same time as discs. I had my pads on new last year and they have done about 11000 mile and are hardly showing any wear. They are Ferodo pads.
