Golf Mk2 GTi battery discharging itself 6 Aug 2004 (Forum)
This morning the car was fine on the 25 mile trip to work and I parked up at 9am, then at midday flat as a pancake. Jump starting and all is well. The battery is new and when the problem occurs by the time the car is jump started the problem has gone such that an ammeter in series with the battery when switched off reveals no significant current drain. -
Parking "ticket" 6 months after the offence 17 Nov 2007 (Forum)
A few weeks ago, out of the blue, she received a letter from a debt collection agency demanding £75 on behalf of NCP for failing to pay the penalty for parking on a Sunday in April in a car-park in Brighton where she shouldn't have been. She recalls using this car park, but she didn't receive any ticket so toddled off home none the wiser. However, the letter, which arrived mid-October, claims she WAS issued with a parking violation ticket which offered her the chance to pay a £25 fine. -
Speeding - The pleasure of living in Essex 17 Nov 2016 (Forum)
_The_road_is_a_racetrack_at_night_and_we_feared_the_worst_after_horror_smash_/?ref=ar Now that our "relief road" is fully open we have a fine new stock car racing track, as well as the high speed test track on the A12/A120 to add to the "Collection centre" at the Turner retail park. 50mph past the speed camera on mile end road, don't worry if y'all get "flashed", no road markings so camera useless. -

Can you see your bonnet? 22 Jan 2009 (Forum)
We currently have a Corsa D loan car. Fine car in many ways, but not nearly as easy to park as such a compact car should be because even though I'm tall, I can't see any part of the bonnet from the drivers seat. Made me wonder how many other car are like this now - so, can you see the bonnet of your car from the drivers seat? -
Vauxhall Astra G Diesel (1998 - 2004) - 1998 2.0 Wont start 24 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Hi - i previously posted that this would not start after stalling it - thanks for the replies to that - it was the fuel pump that needed replacing and the car worked fine for couple of months - until now. The car was parked on an incline for the first time since it was repaired and now it fires but won't start - is it likely to be the same problem? any other ideas? many thanks -
Ford Scorpio Computer Glitch 9 Nov 2001 (Forum)
I recently parked my 1997 Ford Scorpio for several weeks at an airport, and the battery will have run pretty low. When I returned to the car, it started and everything is fine EXCEPT, the onboard multi-function computer reverted to metric units and will not reset to imperial units. -
Parking ticket in France 5 Nov 2008 (Forum)
We are just back from a tour of France in our motorcaravan and during this visit; we got a parking ticket from the local Police Municipal, in Sts Maries de la Mere. The circumstances were that we had parked in an area of a quiet road, which was prohibited to motorcaravans (this was not obvious at the time) and when we arrived back at the ? -

Toledo TDI power loss 2 Apr 2004 (Forum)
On driving the car today, after 4 miles, the engine suddenly lost power akin to the brakes being applied and staying on or loss of Turbo. The car was gutless but drivable. We parked up for 2 hours, came back and restarted and the car was fine. After another 4 miles the same thing happened = gutless but drivable. We parked up at a shop for 3 minutes, restarted and the car was ok. -
Ford Fiesta Saloon - Parking warning - Royal Albert Hall, Imp College 27 Jan 2011 (Forum)
We did just this two weeks ago and wondered why a white van pulled in front of us, onto the pedestrian crossing and then parked, shortly to pull away again. The van turned around and sat behind other cars. Very curious. A week later we found out what the van was doing when the photo of us queuing was sent with a £60 parking fine. -
Parking tickets bring a smile... 6 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Jim Ramsden was anything but full of Christmas spirit when he discovered a $30 parking ticket on his SUV in front of his Stouffville home early yesterday. "I was pink fluffy diced off like anyone is," the 52-year-old said. But his mood suddenly brightened when he discovered he could pay the fine with an unwrapped toy of equivalent value at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Town Hall. -
Mondeo 2.0tdci engine starts no throt 7 Sep 2014 (Forum)
As soon as they go out the engine revs pick up and the car can be driven. Once it is going it drives fine. No judders or jerks, no loss of power, no warning lights and it doesnt stall - it is as if nothing is wrong until I have parked and want to restart the engine again. It has been in a ford dealership now for 2 weeks. -
vauxhal vectra - Engine Dead, clicks or whirrs ,Common Fault 8 Feb 2011 (Forum)
AND NOW ITS HAPPENED AGAIN - 2 years later another 20,000 on the clock, parked up fine and next day its died, just a clicking noise from the engine that feels solid, and the Radio working on its own accord, coming on and off !!! I have discovered through experience that the Cam chain is only lasting 20,000 miles for an unknown reason as the car is well looked after. -
Peugeot 306 (1997) / petrol - Car stalls when stopping 21 Apr 2011 (Forum)
It starts up again immediately, but I have to keep the gas pedal slightly depressed to keep the revs up. HOWEVER - when I eventually park, switch off completely, then start up again but DON´T actually move off, it doesn´t stall at all - and continues idling just fine. The idle only dies when I come to a stop from a moving position. -

96 VW Golf 1.9D starting problem 22 Sep 2006 (Forum)
After starting it a few times and reving above 2K for about 30 seconds it begins to behave as normal and has no problems. Once warm it starts fine and never gives any bother and runs fine all day long. The problem is always when starting, after the car has been parked for 12+ hours or so. I had the glow-plugs changed yesterday but it is still giving the same problem.
