  • Mercedes E320 estate - Tyres in Europe 24 Sep 2011 (Forum)
HI - I'm driving to Italy in Ocotober and returning via Austrian and Germany in November. I have read I need winter (M&S - mud and slush rated) tyres after October 15. Is this true? Can I pack a set of chains just in case? Or shall I bite the bullet? Any recommendations of winter tyres for noise and performance?
  • Living laser cell 23 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Inspired by Jamie745's transparent planes thread, another technological and biological advance! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-13725719 http://www.nature.com/nphoton/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/nphoton.2011.99.html Researchers have managed to get a living cell to lase, which, if applied to other tissues, could allow us to see cell processes to very fine detail.

  • Ford Focus Mk1 2.0 Saloon - CV Joint replacement 2 Sep 2010 (Forum)
The o/s CV joint on my car is making a hell of a racket even on gentle parking manoevres. Have never changed a cv joint before, I assume on this car there is an inner and outer one. Is one known to wear more than the other and are they a relatively simple job for a home mechanic like me?

  • Sighting poll - the urban fox 10 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Funnily enough, despite being up at 5am most Mornings, I`ve never seen one locally. Perhaps it`s because we are in a plastic rubbish bin area and in the suburbs. Once saw a rat run across the ring road, between two competing fast food places, but never a fox. oilrag

Hi,   I've just had an MOT on my S reg Ford Focus Ghia 2.0 and it failed because of the rear brake discs and brake pads are badly corroded. They have quoted £260 to replace them.   My question: Is this a reasonable price for replacing the rear brake discs and pads?

Please forgive me if this is entered in the wrong place, but I would like to hear from anybody who has experience premature clutch failure on Citroen / Peugeot, I am only interested in 2.0 HDI (138) on a six speed gearbox. My family owns four C5's and we have had to replace three of these due to weak diaphragm springs NOT due to wear. Please reply to clutchfailure@yahoo.co.uk

How the I badge had so much cachet and the secret signs of the jacket and the coat hanger. Think its been on before but so funny none the less.
