With the criteria suddenly expanded and all the desirable clubs filling up, Sierra Leone, El Salvador, and Rwanda applied to be called the Axis of Countries That Aren't the Worst But Certainly Won't Be Asked to Host the Olympics; Canada, Mexico, and Australia formed the Axis of Nations That Are Actually Quite Nice But Secretly Have Nasty Thoughts About America, while Spain, Scotland, and New Zealand established the Axis of Countries That Be Allowed to Ask Sheep to Wear Lipstick. "That's not a threat, really, just something we like to do," said Scottish Executive First Minister Jack McConnell. -
Ideas on an appropriate 4x4 6 Sep 2009 (Forum)
The idea would be to aim for a trip in 2 years time, the likely venue would be North Africa using a ferry from Southern Spain...(after doing all the appropriate research re safety, overnight stop venues, fuel locations, etc). Some want full on camping, although some (inc me) are more keen on hotels and similar. It would not be meant as a full on, serious, expert off road trip, but would no doubt involve a fair amount of rough roads etc..hence the 4x4 option. -
Renault Scenic v Citroen C4 Grand Picasso compared 30 Aug 2009 (Forum)
On holiday in Spain last week and luckily we had pre-hired a car. I had booked a Pug Partner on the basis that it was cheap, roomy, and a car I was genuinely interested in trying. At the airport we were upgraded to a brand new Renault Scenic 1.5DCi (400km on the clock). -
Petrol, diesel, hybrid? (No EVs please) - Advice on car for retirement 2 Aug 2022 (Forum)
It doesn't do a huge mileage locally but I always go driving holidays so it's done Wales, the West Country, France, Germany, Spain, and many such trips up north. The down side though is that like most pre 2015 diesels it's non ULEZ compatible and with all sorts of towns and cities going that way, I will need to replace it at some point. -
Citroen C4 Picasso 7-st (2007 - ) - - 10 day hire car review 12 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Been back a couple of weeks now, but thought was worth the thread. Had a C4 Grand Picasso as hire car for holiday in Spain with wife, 2 daughter and parents, although parents drove down in their Volvo had this as was reasonable cheap (EUR 300) and meant only having to take one car if all went out together. No idea on engine or spec as had no manual or badges, but engine was very pokey diesel, so must have been the 2 litre (EGS box gave it away too) and colour changing screen, climate, cruise control made me think upper range model. -
VIRGIN CARS: V'rg'n on the ridiculous 13 Jan 2003 (Forum)
More apologies and promises that they would be monitoring the situation personally [rather than waiting for their Logica implemented customer management system to send out automated standard letters and responses]. A day after they were supposed to collect the car from Spain, I called Virgin to ensure this had happened. As expected, IT HADN'T, due to severe weather on the french-spanish border, and they wouldn't know until a week later. Since I had only had a holding reply from Virgin Management, I called their offices and was told that the lady dealing with the situation was away... -

" So or similar the comments of colleague, friends, experts sounded, when I told recently of my project: Hamburg south Spain and back. With my klapprigen gulf turbo-Diesel year of construction 1984. 428000 kilometers on the clock. The engine nevertheless one quarter million run. And in the tank nothing different one than food oil. -

Paramedics removed the six-inch wiener from his throat where it had choked him to death. 3rd RUNNER-UP Goes to poacher Marino Malerba of Spain, who shot a stag standing above him on an overhanging rock and was killed instantly when it fell on him. 2nd RUNNER-UP "Man loses face at party." A man at a West Virginia party (probably related to the winner last year, a man in Arkansas who used the .22 bullet to replace the fuse in his pickup truck) popped a blasting cap into his mouth and bit down, triggering an explosion that blew off his lips, teeth, and tongue. -
Living, driving and surviving in Kuwait 6 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Jordan thinks I should be buying cheap second-hand luxury and sports cars here and selling them in Spain. Even after I pay the import duty, he says, I should be able to realize pleasant 5-figure sums per sale, become a rich man and thus definitely get a girlfriend. ?It beats teaching,? he concludes gloomily by way of summing-up. ? -
