• Mini One - 2007 - Electric Panoramic Sunroof 27 Jul 2015 (Forum)
  I have read about tapping it shut with a hammer and screwdriver or taking it to a dealer and them fixing it but charging a fortune to do so. I understand lots of Minis have had this problem with their sunroof but BMW/Mini are not taking responsibility. I just want to close the sunroof for now! Does anyone have any suggestions! Getting desparate now the summer storms have started!

  Originally the left hand indicators when activated would just stay on and the rear tail lights would not work at all, although the brake lights work fine...

  I was wondering if I'm alone (probably not) in thinking that the Mini is not the most handsomest of cars? There is now, of course, a revamped Mini about to enter the scene and from the photos in the magazines it looks to me as ugly as it was before. Certain aspects of the interior have been tweaked but I can honestly say that I would never buy any car that persists in placing, no matter how large, a speedometer in the centre of the fascia!

  Does anyone know how to find out the history of his current car, i.e., whether it was used in any road tests or brochures, or what the car spent the first six months of its life doing while it was presumably registered to Rover? The BMIHT certificate scheme doesn't appear to apply to Minis after 1969.

  I took delivery of a brand new MINI ONE on March 1'. Great car to own and drive BUT,last Tuesday I noticed several stains underneath the engine bay-I presumed an oil leak on the power steering. Have had the car back in my local BMW dealer twice,the second timeyesterday.

  Another option is the Toyota Corolla hybrid which I much prefer but doesn't have the fun/wow factors of the Mini/Merc. My wife tried driving it & commented that she liked how it drove so maybe there's hope I can get her one of those. So what does the backroom think?

  Has anyone else been shocked by the cost of keeping a Mini?    Thanks to the coiled dipstick that makes it impossible, and I do mean impossible to read, I overfilled the oil tank to a tune of 14 litres.

    Having persuaded her not to go back to a Yaris (capable, reliable but boring!) she now interested in Minis. With a budget of £7k we've seen a couple we like the look of.  One's a first generation (R50) 55 plate Cooper with the Chilli pack and uprated 17" Mini alloys.  It's done 37.5k miles.

    She has had her thermostat housing replaced twice and she still has the same issues. So, she's taken the car into Mini and paid £100 for a check to be run on the car- it's come back saying she needs a new thermostat housing!  This is the response Mini sent her: Unfortunately we aren’t able to go further with our investigation until we have cleared the fault for the thermostat housing.

  Hi I'm new and hoping someone can help with some advice. After a long journey to Manchester and back my daughter's mini has developed a rhythmic knock from the rear of the timing cover area. It disappears if the revs are raised over about 1500 rpm. I know about the timing chain issues but with hers there's no chainsaw type grrrr noise just the knock.

  I drive a 2005 MINI cooper (Getrag gearbox).  For 1 year, my car has been making a grinding/whirring sound under load whilst in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear.  The sound sounds like a bearing, and begins at 20mph and it gets louder the more I accelerate, but then disappears at exactly 50mph.

  Hi, I have a 1963 mini which I've fitted with a 1980 A+ engine. Everything works fine, but it is clear from driving the car that it would benefit from one (or perhaps two) additional steady bars, over and above the single steady bar fitted as standard to the Mark 1.

  Heya - my Mini One no longer starts, it just makes a clicking noise on turning the key. I was hoping that it's just a dead battery - it is 10 years old after all - but testing with a multimeter shows it's still at 11.9V.

  Hi, I had a new radiator fitted on my BMW Mini One in July however this morning my engine overheated. I suspect it is due to the garage using coolant  mix  that was mainly water and lacked antifreeze and as it was -10c this morning, my radiator has frozen?

  Wife has a Mini cooper s fitted with standard radio cd player. Ive never noticed before but you can have the stereo on without the ignition being on. Is this normal?, i thought you could only have it on with ignition switched to fist position.

  My Mini as started to unlock itself then re-lock every 5 mins, have tried changing the battery in the key but problem persists, sometimes remote key does not work and i need to manually lock the car, then it starts to work again before it begins it's random lock and unlocking.
• MINI Cooper S R53 (2002 - 2007) - 2003 1.6 Brake Wear Sensor 1 Sep 2008 (Forum)
  A friend of mine has a 2003 Mini Cooper S which is equipped with a brake pad wear sensors. The pads have plenty of life left in them but the sensor is indicating that they need replaced. A mechanic has checked the brakes and the connections for the wear sensors but everything seems fine.
