• Golf MK 3 Rust under door seal 29 May 2002 (Forum)
  I have a P registered Golf and recently I've noticed a small patch of rust under drivers door seal, as it's not in an exposed position (i.e. not likely to be stone chipped) should I be able to claim on the 11yr non-perforation warranty? I wouldn't have thought this was normal for a 5 year old car. Rgds, Tom

  I wonder how long the new Fiat Thingy's electrics would last if people really treated them like they do in the TV advert (in the UK) for it?! If I was a punter in the market for a new car, I don't think the ad would convince me. But then again, maybe I'm old fashioned.

  Having just had starting problems with my 15 month old diesel zafira (injector seal) S&it happens but this was nicely deoderised by the local dealer f.o.c. and a car for the day. However whilst the problem was ongoing, my German colleagues recommended mixing petrol with diesel fuel in a 2 to 30 litre ratio. and claimed that this was the special winter additive by the fuel companies.

  i need to get my cars front geometry checked, and i was wondering what the best equipment is for the job. some garages seem to have a very old and crude system with strings (which seems to be really very poor), and i'm sure there's a better system out there.

  Once driving the tappet noise is non-existant as I think the oil pressure is up and OK. At idle, it's audible as a ticking noise. The car has been fully serviced and 4 years old with 60K on the clock. I'm wondering if the oil is not the right grade but other than that I'm foxed.

  They said they could get one but I would have to pay an extra £50 ( in top of the £170) to respray it black. They claimed this part was no longer available in black, i find this hard to believe as the car is only five years old.
• Peugeot 206 - Loss of power and EML with new air filter 9 Jul 2018 (Forum)
  It's as if it's getting fuel and then suddenly not getting any so cuts out but then gets more fuel and starts revving again. However, if I put the old air filter back on and floor it, it'll just keep revving and I have no issues whatsoever. The old air filter is BLACK, it's absolutely filthy but it's the only way the car will drive properly. I've plugged it into OBD and it says there's a problem with the MAF circuit (P0100 IIRC) but like I say, put the old filter back in and it all goes away.

  Buy a s/h 6 month old car that is non qualifying and sell 2yrs later. Choices 1 &2 look best, probably 2, as someone else would of suffered some of the depreciation. However when I sell the car it will be 6 months older, will this partially counteract the £3k ish saving do you think?

  It looks as if the damage is a small dent to the rear bumper, but the bumper will need to be replaced. She’s been given a hire car, but her car has yet to be repaired. She’s been told that, as it’s over eight years old, it may have to be written off as that is the company policy. Will she have to accept that? She’s not had it long and it was hard to find as it’s a small, low mileage automatic.

  I lease a car. From new. Now 4yrs old and end of lease. I am retiring. I want to keep the car however uk tax laws say I can't buy it. But a mate can. So one of my mates buys it. I lend him the money, v5 goes in his name for a week then he sells it for a £1 to me.

  Just ended up buying a 10 year old Mazda 3MPS car which is brilliant with 70,000 miles on the clock however the undersurface of the car has some significant rust patches. Phoned a rustproofing outfit who advises that it would cost about £600 for the work!

  Looking for a small hatchback (not a city car preferably) My requirements for a car: reliable, cheap to run & maintain, up to 3 yrs old, A/C, cruise control, touch screen, Bluetooth, 5 doors, 0-60mph in under 11s, look good. Extras I would like are heated seats, android auto, start/stop & parking sensors/camera my budget is £6k (target) but I can stretch to £6.5k my annual mileage will probably be low - around 4-5000 Some motorway trips and lots of driving around town.

• Ford Focus - Buying repossessed car with superficial damage 10 Oct 2016 (Forum)
  Hi, I've seen a 2013 Ford Focus at a dealers, which is a finance repossession, and is at least a thousand pounds cheaper than equivalents around. The car drives fine, but there are quite a few small scratches on the paintwork and some loose panels inside the car (drivers side inside door, for example. Not sure why that would be loose?). It's only three years old and the dealer will sell it with a full MOT.

  We bought a VW Up with9000 miles on the clock a month ago and then went on holiday for 2 weeks. On our return when we started the car we noticed a noise when the clutch was in idling mode. We have asked the garage to rectify this and they tell us it is not detrimental to the car and will not affect its performance. We generally like the car but having traded in a 12 year old Focus with no problem except age, we are disappointed to have this slight rattling noise on the new cars clutch.

  My  6 year old Rover has suddenly developed this fault. When driving  along a clicking noise comes from the glove box area and the car stops. The oil light flashes a few times and after a few minutes the car will restart.
