Replacing a Hyundai i10 15 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Order placed for an SEL 110 bhp 6-speed manual: the only extras needed were metallic Race Blue paint, a reversing camera and a space-saver spare wheel. I think we've done the right thing, but I look forward to people on here telling me we didn't. I hope it's of interest anyway. -
Audi Q2 - a year and a bit 22 Jul 2019 (Forum)
Things worth having: Lumbar support; heated front seats (for SWMBO); power tailgate (well worth having, not least so that you can open it remotely and find the car in a car park); rear view camera; automatic high-beam assist; space-saver spare wheel; auto hill hold; and auto-dimming rear-view mirror (the last two shouldn't have been extras). I went for, but not sure I would again, the Tech Pack with the 'virtual cockpit': the main screen is atop the dashboard and angled towards the driver, so having the same map in front of you isn't much of a bonus. -
Mercedes B class 180d AMG - Quick review. 17 Feb 2018 (Forum)

Front fogs Parking sensors (camera instead) Self park Auto dipping rear view mirror Folding mirrors I was also surprised it didn’t have: DAB radio Xenon headlights Heating to the standard fit leather/alcantara seats I mentioned the safety fitments. -
Honda Civic - Is this car a good buy / fair price? 15 Oct 2017 (Forum)
Something a bit newer (even if it has more miles), or something with a higher spec (such as with reversing camera, Cruise Control, etc.). Or is this car still a good buy at this price? -

More from the Far Side 11 Jan 2003 (Forum)
"The traffic police are always coming up with these new ideas so they can extract ligay (bribes). Buckle Up Week is just another police scam for raising money". (wait till we get speed cameras!) "It's pointless putting seat belts in the car's rear. The accident will be at the front". "If you are a senior citizen you should be exempt from wearing seat belts". "Seatbelts are crazy, like those on airplanes. -

Help with replacement car choice 16 Feb 2017 (Forum)
The Hyundai has been generally reliable with only two faults fixed under warranty, a failed propshaft bearing and failed reversing camera. What would the backroomers choose in my situation? -
Why has my Nissan Qashqai had worse mpg since the engine computer system update? 23 Jan 2017 (Ask HJ)

Waves, string instability theory and traffic jams 10 Jun 2010 (Forum)
I think it deserves a thread on its own rather than wrapping it up in the one on average speed cameras. There was also a recent television programme on Channel 4 about it. At holiday periods motorists will experience the familiar frustration of being stuck on a motorway in a ‘phantom’ traffic jam that eventually disperses with no road works to blame, or any other apparent cause. -
Audi A4 B7 (2005 - 2008) - Six sensible steps to buying a car privately? 18 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I said he could only have this if a) he accompanied me into the bank and accepted the transfer in front of witnesses/cameras and b) he brought me several proofs of his identity and his right to sell the car on his father's behalf. 5) The V5 was watermarked and appeared authentic, the serial number was not in the stolen risk range, the details matched the car to the letter and had been signed away by his father (or someone??). -

Toy Run - Marvellous policing!! 10 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Officers of its technical section set up a speed trap on the morning of December 1 specifically to target riders heading for the annual Charity Toy Run, which begins at Ottery Hypermarket. Riders quickly reported spotting the camera trap on their way in to the Toy Run but it took until the following Thursday for IOL to get confirmation of its existence from a traffic cop who asked ? for obvious reasons ? not to be named. Late that day City Police chief Mark Sangster officially confirmed the presence of the trap to IOL Motoring and agreed it was of a type known as a "back to back" and used specifically to trap motorcyclists: it photographs the allegedly speeding vehicle from behind (motorcycles have no front number plates). -

Renault Clio - Should I change my car to a diesel? (advice) 3 Jun 2022 (Forum)
This I have worked out the costs of my fuel bill could potentially be halved with long distances I intend to travel – considering the MPG is double on my current clio. This Clio is 2017 and pretty much has all the specs my current Clio has (minus a reversing camera). This has done approx. 27,000 miles to this date. My intention would be to part exchange this outright in cash - which would only set me back by about a grand - but i know this is well in budget for me. -
Irrelevant - Looking for advice and opinions. 11 Aug 2016 (Forum)
This vehicle was one of the Manufacturers Approved vehicles. The vehicle has an excellent reversing camera on which reference guides should appear. As my old vehicle was an identical model I am of course familiar with the system. I was told by the dealership that these lines had been removed for safety which is of course pure B/S. -
Vauxhall Corsa CDTi 05 plate - V Bad fuel consumption + minor electrical niggles 26 Jan 2011 (Forum)
I have done Liverpool to Aberdeen (some 375 miles once i get through the town) on 3/4 tank from brimmed. I have a lead foot so can do 85mph when average speed cameras allow. Based on this I reckon I get about 125miles to 1/4 tank which tallys with my old commute distances v consumption (again motorways). I don't know how to work out mpg, so sorry. Noticed before Christmas on motorway (again!)
