Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 97 1.9D Turns over but fails to start 7 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Engine is definately free to turn and will do on attempting to start - it sounds as if it wants to fire but won't. I have run 100 miles since last fuel top up which had injector clean added to it. Did 30 mile run on dual carriageway in 4th gear the other day to run at higher rpm to help cleaning injectors / pistons. Anyone got any ideas??? -

Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - 01 1.9d intermitting engine cutout/failure 13 Dec 2008 (Forum)
My mas 1.9 diesel (non turbo) 206 has started playing up runs fine for days/weeks then some times refuses to start or will start playing up while driving (lumpy / missing) Ive checked the usual problems when it fails to start - ie removing the fuel line at the filter and priming to check the fuel isnt running back to the tank causing an air lock but it seemed fine. serviced it after this and it run fine for 3 days but now its back. -
Vauxhall Vectra B (1995 - 1999) - 98 2.0 dti runs rough 11 Feb 2008 (Forum)
hi, i have a 98 vectra 2.0 di dtl which starts and drives, but runs lumpy when cold and will not rev above 2,500 rpm, when the engine management light light comes on.i have replaced fuel filter, leak off pipes, maf sensor.Took it to a garage for diagnostic check and they tell me pump has a fault.Curious thing is though is i drove through a deep puddle last week and afterwards normal performance returned [revving fully no light on] but next day back to poor running,do you think ishould try a crank sensor?. -
Vauxhall Cavalier (1988 - 1995) - 1.6 - pierburg carb settings 19 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Sorry guys, another pierburg problem---My vaux 1600 has a pierburg 2E carb and it's always been a pain. I don't want another winter with choke hassle so I must fix it. It fires up ok and runs for a few secs then goes onto megachoke and runs slower and slower until it dies. I can keep it running by using the accelerator, the engine speed will increase ,but it's still chugging away. After a couple of mins it will run well enough to drive. -
Vectra MIL 20 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I don't know what came over me! Anyway, there was a bit of moving the car about where the engine wasn't running for long. Not something it likes when the engine is cold, but not usually a problem whilst it's still slightly warm. Started it Sunday morning and it was running very rough, but cleared after a minute or two and has run fine since. -
Running in brake pads/discs. Ford Escort 25 Mar 2004 (Forum)
At the end of the return journey the right front wheel was fine, yet the left was now hot and smelly! Have i just reached some finite point in the wear of the disks/pads, where they are now fully run in or something, and will be fine after a few more miles? Or have the same garage which overfilled my engine oil also bodged up my brakes? -
Peugeot 1.9TD Woes 26 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Car recovered on the end of a rope and fuel pumped out the next day at a local garage. I noticed that after that the car spluttered a bit before running cleanly after a glowplug start and then seemed to start and run OK. Today I noticed that when starting the engine warm and then a glowplug start it would start and immediatly cut out on 2/3 occasions before eventually starting and running OK. -
Astra running slow 21 Mar 2002 (Forum)
When it is warm and under full load, it also tends to pink sometimes. Any suggestions as to what could be wrong or how I can get it running properly again? Is the pinking anything I should worry about? Cheers, Mark -
Is it required? 8 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Perusal of this site over the past few weeks has revealed a healthy interest in prolonging engine life by use of a particular brand of oil, careful running in, additives, changing oil more frequently than the manufacturers recommendations etc. I have run 3 cars over 100,000 miles with just standard servicing, and a good friend of mine runs a taxi business where his self employed drivers run their standard family saloons with astronomical mileages on the clock. -

Home Ethanol Production 22 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Considering how dangerous it is to make proper Bio-Diesal for modern cars to run on, which is also debatable, this is amazing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmFwSogNAEc Could this replace Bio-diesel? Henry Ford produced his model T to run on ethanol! -

Renault Megane - Renault Megane rough running 6 Sep 2022 (Forum)
Renault Megane, 2001, petrol, 1.6 K4M engine. Came out of the shops and it was running rough, On the way home lack of power, funny smells, and engine light flashing periodically. I've had the usual coil problems before, so removed connectors one at a time with no difference, apart from the engine nearly dying with each connector removal. -
Vauxhall Carlton - Run if the mill classic 23 Jan 2017 (Forum)
I always liked the Vauxhall carlton when I was younger and it reminds me of the one my dad had when I was a young boy. Am I being sentimental or is it wise to buy such a car for running to work ect? Are parts still easy to get? -
ford galaxy - misfire 5 Nov 2014 (Forum)
My 2000 ford galaxy 2.3 Zetec has suddenly stopped firing on cylinders 1 and 3 without warning, fuel is OK but no spark, cylinders 2 and 4 are fine which means both coil packs have gone down at the same time which to me seems strange, so my question is... What else can stop cylinders 1 and 3 from sparking considering 2 and 4 are running fine. Engine does run but very lumpy. Please help as I use my car everyday for school runs and work and need it back on the road ASAP. Any advice is welcome. -
