  • Mondeo Mk3 V6 - Battery charging problem - alternator fault? 26 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Hi, my mondeo is just over 6 years old so when the AA man pronounced the battery dead after a call out for a non start I was not surprised. However, about a month later the new battery is flat and the car won't start. If I charge the battery up it seems ok, but does not really seem to charge properly from the engine.
  • Mazda MX5 Mk2 1999 - Draining Battery 1 Jul 2011 (Forum)
I have checked the power coming into the battery when the engine is running and I get over 14 volts. Does anybody know how I could check the system to see if some thing is draining the battery or any other suggestions would be very welcome.
  • Honda FR-V - Battery charging/losing charge 2 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Is this a battery issue? I have put a meter on the battery and it does appear to be charging ok. Perhaps this is a known issue that someone can help me with? Thanks
  • Focus TDCI - Halfords Batteries 29 Oct 2010 (Forum)
My question is - Is the battery capable of cranking this car and if so what would cause the sluggish crank speed? Many thanks Ian
  • Electromagnetic Battery Discharge 9 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Got back this morning from a week in the sun, only to find that the battery on my car was almost completely dead. The parking company (at Gatwick) got me started and said that it's a very common occurence, particularly with new batteries. The guy told me that the unusually high number of flat batteries had prompted an investigation by BAA which found that the problem was caused by the high levels of EM radiation in certain areas around the airport.
  • Renault Zoe - Avoiding the £70 p/m battery rental 3 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Is there any way to avoid the £70 per month battery rental charge? What happens if I buy a used Zoe - do I have to sign up for the rental scheme? Does Renault own the battery forever?

  • Mazda - Low Battery Display 11 Jan 2010 (Forum)
There was a recent post on the subject of calcium batteries, where a car's LCD low battery display was mentioned. As a low mileage driver I would find this feature extremely useful, and wonder if it is common on cars built more recently than my 2002 Mazda6?
  • What's your longest lasting battery? 27 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Replaced the failing battery on my wife's Punto after four years. Reminded me that when I scrapped my Fiat Mirafiori at nine to ten years old it still had the original Marinelli (I think it was called that) battery on it. What's your longest lasting one?

  • Vauxhall corsa 1.0i battery 20 Feb 2006 (Forum)
This car is coming up to its fifth birthday in May and I was wondering how long the car's battery was likely to last. What are the usual symptoms of a car's battery being on the way out? The lights dim a little when the rear demister is switched on, but the car is starting without trouble. Any advice?
  • Battery lights staying on - vw golf 13 Apr 2005 (Forum)
We have a G Reg VW Golf and since Friday the battery lights have been staying on. We got a brand new battery in January, so could it be a loose wire or something more serious? The car starts and runs fine, but the lights stay on Cheers
  • Should I change my 6-7 yr old Battery? 4 Mar 2005 (Forum)
My car is 6/7 years old with original battery. We use it for short drives and the engine is 2.3 (Honda). How long should the battery last? I am minded to replace it now.
  • Toyota Hiace - Which battery charger? 29 Jun 2023 (Forum)
The Hiace stands idle for most of the winter. I stupidly let the HIace batteries crun flat a few times last winter by not taking it out for a weekly run, and had to replace both its big batteries: ouch £££. Last week, I have returned from over 2 months away in the Hiace, to find that my Almera battery was flat.
  • Peugeot 306 - Peugeot 306 Battery Drain Help! 24 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I bought a peugeot 306 last year and went on holiday for a fornight shortly after, when I returned the battery was dead and the car wouldn't start, I managed to get it working again by jump starting it, but it didn't last and the battery died (could charge or jump start it) I replaced the battery and all was well again, until a fortnight ago, I went to start the car and just like before the battery was drained, again, I jump started and all was well again, for about a week and its now drained again.
  • Peugeot 107 /108 - battery storage at supplier 17 Aug 2021 (Forum)
Recently purchased a new Yuasa battery for no reason other that it fits both cars and one battery is nearly 6 years old and the other 7.  I have a battery less jump starter so I am happy to wait until a problem develops. Can I just leave the new battery undisturbed on the shelf which presumably is what a supplier does?
  • Honda - Stop start technology 15 Nov 2015 (Forum)
I see in FAQ that HJ is suggesting a new battery is required for a CRV a where stop start is not operating. If the battery is not holding charge then this is sound advice in this case. However stop start on my 2012 Civic doesn't work once winter kicks in as although the battery is otherwise OK my usage of the car is such that the battery seldom reaches full charge in winter and the system is set up only to work with a fully charged battery.
  • Jaguar X-Type Estate 2.0 SE D - Very sluggish to start - just like battery dying 29 Jun 2015 (Forum)
I put the battery on an 8 Amp fast charge but after 4 hours the charger was still showing a 'Battery poor condition' light and only 90% charged. Starting the car was just the same very sluggish. As the battery was the original I replaced it with an 85 AmpHour unit.
  • Ford Focus 1.8 Diesel 2007/2008 (2008) - Battery Removal Procedure 12 Dec 2012 (Forum)
The 110 case battery is huge for this size of vehicle and is normally found in high-end, high-capacity large vehicles. The Type 075 case, used in petrol models simply tilts up at the front end and lifts out, but it doesn't look possible with a battery this long.
