Ford KA 1.3i Studio - Auxiliary Belt Noise? 21 Nov 2013 (Forum)
We have done about 200 miles in the new KA and its superb, accept for the presence of a Ticking/swishing noise comming from the engine which not present in our old car. I assumed the Auxiliary Belt was to blame so for the sake of £12 I replaced it with a reputable brand but the noise is still there and although low in volume annoys me! Some findings so far: 1) It is revs and not speed dependant 2) can be heard easiest when idelling or when driving with the windows down between close houses 3) when spraying water or WD40(old belt) there is no change 4) fluid levels all fine 5) turning the steering wheel or putting the rear demister on have no affect 6) I have PAS but no aircon 7) with the old belt removed all pullies/auxiliaries rotated smoothly 8) There is no sqealing or shirping whatsoever 9) No difference after warm up period I thought the tempo was more in line with the belt cycle rather than the engine speed so I counted 100 reptitions with the car idelling and timed myself. -
French reputation for rust .... no more 12 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Time was when French cars rightly had a terrible reputation for being prone to corrosion. As a case in point, I recall going on holiday in 1980 with a Belgian friend and his family, when we drove in their eighteen month old CX from Brussels to Saint Jean de Luz. -
BMW 3 Series Coupe - Getting specialist to check over car before I buy 27 Aug 2011 (Forum)
This car is 3.5 years old but has done a lot of miles for its age. Do you think it would be reasonable to apply the "6 month rule" to a car like this? If so, does getting someone to check the car over do more harm than good? -

Used car prices - private sale 13 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Friend of a friend has a used supermini worth £2500 in a private sale according to Parker's, no takers even at £1750! I guess people want a new or newer car and with interest rates so low just now can afford the payments on a new car so no interest in any used car over 3 years old.... -

Any - Accident 4 Sep 2023 (Forum)
We told her to let the insurance company deal with it and to block his phone calls. We are expecting her car to be a write off as hit into the passenger door and ended up into the front wing.. her car is a 2010 note and the other car was old too. Best thing to ignore the other guy? Insurance company informed straight away. -
Car price drop incoming? 11 Nov 2022 (Forum)
Hi, I helped a friend buy a used car last month, she got a 3 year old BMW 3 series diesel. Before she’s purchased the car, we had been to see 2 others at different BMW dealerships. For various reasons we didn’t go with them including the unwillingness to budge on the price and/or throw in a longer warranty. -
