  • Ferrari sale set for Silverstone 16 May 2018 (News)
    . The first of its kind on UK soil, the auction dedicated to the famous Italian marque includes everything from a 2014 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta (estimate £190,000-£240,000) to a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona (estimate £500,000-£575,000). One of 158 right hand drive models, the Daytona has 35,900 miles on the clock and is finished in Argento Auteuil with blue leather interior. One of the lowest mileage cars in the auction is a 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina with 3022 miles on the clock.

It's not what you'd call racy to drive, but small CVTs do have a certain charm, not least for their constant engine note and rather direct power delivery - the throttle pedal is more an on-off switch than progressive, but in true Italian style it's an eager and lively little thing.
  • Sultan’s Porsche could fetch £700,000 at London auction 12 Oct 2017 (News)
    . The car is one of only 14 993 Turbo Cabriolets produced by Porsche - and the only right-hand drive example in existence. It is estimated at £500,000 to £700,000. It is one of 80 classic and sports cars in Coys’ Spirit of Motoring auction, which takes place at London’s Royal Horticultural Halls on 17 October. This 993 Turbo Cabriolet, which has been part of a significant European collection since 2009, has covered just over 9000km and looks set to be the star of the auction.
  • A Grand Monday: Peugeot 405 TD LX Estate 9 Oct 2017 (News)
    A year after the saloon was launched, Peugeot introduced an estate version, which was not only one of the best looking large estates on the market, but also one of the most capacious. Coupled to the fact that it was also terrific to drive and the 405 was a compelling proposition. The good news doesn't end there, either. Thanks to its galvanised bodywork and simple mechanical layout, the 405 has withstood the ravages of time far better than its contemporary rivals.

After the capital, Manchester, Aberdeen, Birmingham and Manchester round out the top five most congested cities in Britain.
  • Record breaking Lambo up for sale 15 Feb 2017 (News)
    The 1983 Countach LP500S has 12 British Outright Speed records to its name and will go under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions’ Race Retro Classic Car Sale later this month. The right-hand drive, UK delivered Countach LP500S is one of only 25 examples made and was first owned by racing driver and Lamborghini aficionado Barry Robinson. On 15 October, 1983, Barry Robinson and his co-driver, Alex Postan set a series of 12 British speed and endurance records for production cars, lapping the Millbrook test track at 180mph for extended periods.
  • Low-mileage Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 could make £70k at auction 23 Nov 2016 (News)
    The fast Ford will go under the hammer at Classic Car Auctions’ sale on 3 December at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre. This right-hand drive, manual example, build number 451, was bought by its first owner in 1987, before being sold to its second owner in 1988 when it had covered just 2000 miles. Having used the car sparingly up until 1995, he then emigrated to the United States.
  • Rare lightweight Porsche 911 RS up for grabs 4 Oct 2016 (News)
    A rare lightweight Porsche 911 will go under the hammer later this month. The 1991 Porsche 911 (964) Carrera RS NGT – often touted as one of the best driving 911s of the era – is part of Silverstone Auctions’ Porsche Sale on Sunday, 15 October. It boasts a factory-stripped blank interior and roll cage, and epitomises Porsche racing as the more radical version of the 964 Carrera RS.
  • A Grand Monday: 1979 Volkswagen Passat (B1) project for £800 3 Oct 2016 (News)
    The paintwork on one of the rear arches was also rushed, so will need stripping back, filling, sanding and painting again. The 1.6-litre starts and drives and the gearbox is smooth. But make no mistake - the Passat will need recommissioning with fresh oil, all bushes and the brakes checking. There may also be some welding to be done as well. So if you’re serious about taking on this project you’ll need to go and give it a proper inspection.
  • Low-mileage Datsun comes out of hiding 16 Sep 2016 (News)
    The 1978 Datsun 260Z will go under the hammer at Classic Car Auctions’ (CCA) sale on Saturday, 24 September, at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre. The original UK, right-hand drive example was first registered in March 1978 and has had just two owners. Purchased by its current owner in 1994, the car was the fruit of a long and laborious search by its owner to source the best 260Z possible.

    This Jaguar XJ6 has 106k on the clock and is for sale at £750 . It’s a 3.2-litre Sport, so it should be a bit sharper to drive than your average XJ6 - not that a standard one is a bad ride. According to the advert, the car is, ‘Totally rust free and [the] bodywork is in excellent condition. No dents. No scrapes.
  • 103 classic cars for auction at CCA sale 3 Dec 2015 (News)
    Originally sold on 14 October, 1977, the car was resold on 28 April, 1978, to a friend of the original owner. Garaged in 1985 when she stopped driving, the car was put away and never used again. It’s now going under the hammer with an estimate of between £7000 and £9000.   • Police hunt Ford Mustang stolen 20 years ago 10 Nov 2015 (News)
    Classic car break-ins are distressingly common – but it’s not every day we get to report a theft that could have occurred up to 20 years ago. That’s the case, however, with this left-hand drive Ford Mustang, whose owner died in August. Hertfordshire Police believe it was stolen at some point within the last two decades. The car, registered VTM 648S, was kept in a lock-up garage in Welwyn Garden City, which its late owner’s daughter visited for the first time recently – only to find the Mustang missing.
  • Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: Jaguar reveals the F-Pace SUV 15 Sep 2015 (News)
    The car, which has been almost four years in the making, will be built at Solihull and goes on sale early next year with prices starting from £34,170. Drivers will be able to choose from rear- and four-wheel drive versions, petrol or diesel engines, plus manual or automatic gearboxes. The top of the range model will use the F-Types 380PS supercharged V6 while at the other end of the spectrum the 2.0-litre diesel will offer 180PS and low CO2 emissions (129g/km) and decent fuel economy (57.7mpg).
  • Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: Renault reveals all-new Megane 15 Sep 2015 (News)
    Inside the car, Renault is giving drivers “technologies from the class above” - a head-up display, TFT instrument display, and portrait-style 8.7-inch screen. Multi-Sense technology will also be available, which allows drivers to personalise their driving experience by modifying accelerator and engine response. Top of the range when the car is launch will be the Renaultsport-inspired GT, with a 205PS petrol engine mated to a seven-speed EDC dual-clutch transmission.
