As well as a host of static displays, there is also plenty of live action, including the chance for you to become a rally hero and drive a classic car of your choice on a specially designed route within the grounds of Stoneleigh Park (courtesy of HERO Events).  New for 2017 is the Motor Sport Hall of Fame - a whole hall dedicated to past and present inductees, also featuring the Motor Sport Live Stage with interviews and a panel of racing heroes and industry experts.  Event director Dan Nwaokolo, heading up the new organising team from Clarion Events, said, 'We’re really excited about Race Retro for 2017.

  • Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: Hyundai launches i20 Active 15 Sep 2015 (News)
In fact, more than half of the i20 Active's exterior parts are new. Don't expect a capable off-roader, though. With drive heading to the front wheels, there's no mention of specialised off-road traction control system for taking the i20 Active across muddy tracks or wet fields.  Prices haven't been announced either, but expect to pay £11,000 when the i20 Active reaches showrooms early next year.
  • Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: DS4 Crossback makes its debut 15 Sep 2015 (News)
.  The Crossback is a more rugged version of the DS4 but doesn't have four-wheel drive - think Vauxhall Adam Rocks or Rover Streetwise. However it does sit 30mm higher with larger wheels while the rugged look is completed by big wheel arches, chunky bumpers and roof bars. Alongside the launch of the Crossback, DS has also revised the DS4 line-up.
  • Metro crossover concept comes to auction 1 Jun 2015 (News)
The Scout, however, was something different – and with the benefit of hindsight, was years ahead of its time. These days, two-wheel drive crossover-style vehicles are extremely popular, attracting buyers who appreciate their looks, their robust image and their practicality. In the case of the Scout, a standard Rover Metro was fitted with a taller roof, a higher side-hinged tailgate, bigger rear side windows, roof rails, extra plastic panels, headlamps guards and even an externally nounted spare wheel in order to resemble a mini-4x4.

  • A Grand Monday: Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo 18 Aug 2014 (News)
It’s 20-valve engine will get you 62mph in a 6.5 seconds (6.3 if it’s a six-speeder) before going on to a top speed of 155mph… if you’re brave enough. In its day, it was one of the quickest front-wheel drive coupes around – and it still feels fantastic nearly 20 years later. This 1998 Fiat Coupe 20-valve Turbo is for sale at £1225 and comes with MoT until December and tax until November.
  • Microcar values continue to soar 7 Jul 2014 (News)
For real value though, it’s worth looking at some of Britain’s own microcars, with the front-wheel drive Bond Minicar being relatively cheap at £4000 to £5000 for an excellent example. Rarer alternatives include models like the Frisky, Allard Clipper, Peel P50, AC Petite and various Berkeleys.
  • GTI International Coming Up On 4th-6th July 18 Jun 2014 (News)
The strip will also have demo runs from many of the country’s top tuning companies, as well as members of the Volkswagen Drag Racing Club.  One highlight will be Paul Jordan’s four-wheel-drive Scirocco 20VT that can cover the standing quarter in 8.95 seconds, hitting 150 mph. Away from the Sprint, the Show ’n’ Shine and Concours competition, sponsored by Autoglym, attracts hundreds of the best-kept Volkswagens in Britain and Europe, with entries from original and restored concours classics to highly modified and customised cars.

  • Tom Hartley Leaves Tom Hartley to Specialise in Classics 7 Jun 2014 (News)
In the last 12 months alone Hartley Jnr has been personally responsible for some of world’s biggest private ultra-rare car sales. These included a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa sports racing car, the only right hand drive Ferrari California SWB Spider in existence, and the sale of a 1937 Mercedes-Benz W125 Grand Prix car. The new business venture will expand on this existing reputation, he says. ‘My stock represents only the best cars on the market and that is an unconditional pre-requisite of how I wish to trade and build my reputation,’ he added.
  • Low-mileage cars lead the way at Anglia 9 Apr 2014 (News)
It’s still got the original Volvo paper floor mats in place, and its new owner is going to have to do a full recommission again if he wants to drive it. Amzingly, the Volvo was joined by a 1992 Renault 5 Campus, which was almost as mile-shy with a odometer reading of 202 miles. The R5 went for £3570, which is a new high for a Supercinq without a turbo.
  • 'Ashes to Ashes' Audi quattro up for auction 11 Feb 2014 (News)
The car was criticised by eagle-eyed viewers of the programme at the time for being a right-hand drive model two years younger than when the programme was set, in 1981. And that the earliest quattros in the UK would have worn, X- and not V-plates - but for the rest of programme's fan base, it was a brilliant, evocative car that took joint starring role alongside Glenister and Hawes.

Retro Classics is becoming more and more international and if you've not been, it's certainly worth visiting: around 8500 out of the 77,000 visitors who attended Retro Classics 2013 came from overseas, with many Brits joining in.
  • Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from HJClassics 22 Dec 2013 (News)
Many will still say that classic cars are still the best investments money can buy because of their increasing values, but I like to think it's simpler than that - you can drive a classic, and visit new and exciting places in it. Try that in a house or a pile of gold... And in the real world, more of you have been chosing classics than ever before, either adding one to your existing daily driver, or taking on one to perform the day-to-day stuff with a dash of added style.
  • Kia confirms plans to build all-electric Soul 12 Nov 2013 (News)

Kia claims its new car will be fun to drive and capable, with a 0-62mpg time of 12 seconds and a top speed of 90mph. The Soul EV will have a number of technological features to improve its range, including regenerative braking. The car will also be equipped with an artificial engine sound system that will emit an ‘audio alert’ to warn pedestrians of its passing when travelling below 12mph or reversing.

Other notable entries include a nicely prepared 1960 Austin-Healey ‘Frogeye’ Sprite (£9000-10,000) to a Curtis aero-engined 1918(ish) Le Zebre Sports Special (£45,000-50,000). One of just 63 right-hand drive, Park Ward-bodied cars, the 1960 Bentley S2 Continental Drophead Coupe was extensively restored by Ivydene of Crewe during 2002-2004. More recently maintained by Padgett Motor Engineers, it seems positively inexpensive when compared to an Aston Martin DB6 Volante (£120,000-140,000).
