  Any suggestions how best to run-in a brand new diesel engine, with tiptronic gearbox, when you've got to do a 900-mile motorway journey across France the day after collecting the car..?! I can't afford to take 3 days over the journey and pooter around.

  Today I have had the car out and every time I have turned the engine off the engine cooling fan has run for hours and has obviously run the battery down to nothing. I have checked all the books and also online to try and find what the prob could be but have gotten nowhere. Can anyone please advise.

  My wife needs a car for sort runs, school runs, etc. about 5 miles at a time. My Picasso HDi takes miles to warm up, her rover 214sli literaly gets toasty after a few hundred yards. If I got her a 1.4 HDi or similar, will it wear out prematurely as it will never reach proper temp (not to mention never having any cabin heat).

  I've just bought a BMW 3 series on run flats. Its an M Sport 320D, ride quality over some rural roads is shocking! Given how much it will cost me to change the tyres to standard tyres will the better ride that results be worth it or is the difference marginal?

  Bio have a 53 plate Vectra cdi,it seems to feel as if it is running on three cylinders and have a surer will driving along but seems to clear when you put the foot down,there is no fault codes when plugged in and the chap that plugged in in said it has something to do with the inlet manifold is he right?

Heavens to betsy, what a tiresome bunch of exhibitionist airheads, poseurs and yahoos the participants seemed to be. Such an event would be on my to-avoid-at-all-costs list.

  Hello all. 1992 A 80Tdi suddenly started acting up. Loss of power,as if in limp home mode then an equally sudden bout of erratic running as if the ignition was being flicked on and off. All ECU block connections and Ignition Switch connections checked and found ok.....Any thoughts ?

  If it only runs while you drive I can't see too much of a problem. Our car copes perfectly well running the caravan's fridge while we drive. The pins in the UK standard 13 pin car/'van connector it uses are only live when engine runs.

  Hi All, my wife runs a 2002 Ford Ka. 1.3 duratec engine, 60k or so, serviced fairly recently. I have noticed when I maneuver it, i can smell an unpleasant smell, not eggy, not like oil smoke. A mechanic (who was sorting something else) commented that he thought it smelt like it was running a bit rich.
