  • Peugeot 207 SW - Electrical problem - dashboard side light warning 3 Jan 2019 (Forum)
I bought the car second hand from a main dealer about 4 months ago.  I noticed lots of packs of bulbs in the storage space and thought nothing of it, not sure if it's related. The problems are, (these things were fine at first) The dashboard side light on notification doesn't light when the lights are turned on, I'm convinced there was one before??
  • Honda Jazz/Fit (2008 - ) - Reflection of fascia panel (top) on windscreen 3 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I must say that I was very impressed with Honda Jazz Ex model and spent quite a while assessing it's suitability in the event of my deciding to downsize from my CRV, since it provided excellent storage and passenger accessibility. Needless to say, their demonstrator was not there at that particular time, but I did drive the earler Jazz loaned to me as a courtesy car and found the reflection of the fascia top to be rather annoying.
  • Rip-off Dealer only parts 27 Jun 2008 (Forum)
OK, I've had my Citroen C8 for 5 months now and overall I'm really pleased. There are a few niggles, such as the storage compartments - although there are a multitude of them, they are all really odd shapes and can't fit anything regular in them (CD's for instance!) But, my clever (I had other words at the time) son decided it would be fun to fiddle with the built in sunblind on the Sliding door.
  • Police still hunting for a Daewoo Nexia 26 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Anyone who owned such a car in the last six years is also being urged to check for these details on their old MOT certificates and other car documents. It is also possible that the car may have been scrapped, destroyed or placed in storage, and police have appealed to anyone working in scrap dealerships or other vehicle-related businesses to check their records since 2002 for any mention of the car. The vehicle has not been seen since it was reported stolen from a pub car park in Hounslow, west London, several days after 21 March 2002.
  • Insurance Write-off advice 23 Oct 2006 (Forum)
They say their engineer has not valued the vehicle yet (even though they say it is not worth repairing!) but they want to take it to free and safe storage. The car has dents to the passenger door, a broken wing mirror, gouged bumper mouldings and a broken rear light cluster but it is driveable. I guess the parts and labour charges would soon add up to the £1000 or so it is worth (according to Parkers price guide - presumably undamaged).
  • Navman iCN 510 or a Tom Tom? 29 May 2005 (Forum)
He likes the idea of post codes, roads at street level and voice prompts and the fact that the 510 has a storage slot of 512MB to take maps. He says at £349.45 Inc. VAT it looks to be the better buy. Except for the £200 he looks like having to pay for a map kit in order to get one for France. I think he should also look towards using scamera data (yes I know there is talk of banning.
  • Citroen Berlingo Multispace - Dad-to-be swapping small van for a LAV - which one 20 Mar 2017 (Forum)
From what I see of the vehicles: 1st gen Berlingo - can pick up a good example for cheap, easily to find one with a sunroof (I don't know why I have a big fetish for sunroofs especially that I've never owned a car with one since my first car back in 1997!) and has excellent storage options - I quite like the rear drop-down roof storage. Downside is the poor crash safety rating, poverty spec, and, well, the design is old from 1998. 2nd gen Berlingo - VW camper - Does this seem legit or does it ring alarm bells? 16 Oct 2018 (Forum)
(at that address obviously) When she asked the first question the reply was that she would see the vehicle at a local caravan storage facility where he stores his actual caravan as well as the camper. Okay, fair enough..... The answer to the 'is it your name on the V5?' question was however a new one on me: It's apparently registered in the sellers cousin's name and is insured via the cousin's trade insurance with the seller as a named driver on that insurance.
  • Toyota celica 2.0GT Convertible (import) - Autobox pulling away in 2nd gear 14 Aug 2018 (Forum)
I haveva 1995 GT Convertible which only gets used in the summer months. Just got  it out of storage and it's trying to pull away in 2nd gear if in D or 2. If I select L on the selector I get 1st gear then it will pull away in 1st and change up to 2nd ?when I go to 2 or D. Crawls away with not much acceleration unless I manually go down to L then changes down and then it accelerates fine.
  • VW Polo 9N3 - Towing with a Polo 20 Jun 2017 (Forum)
We also own a caravan which we haven't been able to use since my tow-car died a couple of years ago - it's just stood in storage, costing us money.  The caravan is quite light in weight - about 675Kg. It's a Silhouette Swift Diamond which has an aluminium chassis and was easily towed by my Peugeot 306 2.0 Hdi. I don't believe the Peugeot was much heavier than the Polo, which itself weighs nearly 1100Kg, but the Polo's engine only develops 70 BHP versus the 90 BHP of the Peugeot.
  • Ford Transit 2.5 Diesel - Has my transit lost its memory 19 Jul 2013 (Forum)
My 1996 2.5 diesel transit won’t start after removing the battery 6 months ago and putting the van in storage, I have checked all the obvious things battery fuses etc, but the problem persists, I suspect it is something to do with the ford pats immobilizer as I get nothing other than a click from the ignition relay when I turn the key, and the warning light comes on the dashboard, there are no other noises, and I can’t hear the fuel pump whirring like it usually does, is it possible for the immobilizer to lose the code from its memory due to the battery being removed for a long time I have tried starting it with the red master key but it’s still the same.
  • Family car up to £6k...please help! 28 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Our Requirements would be:   Maximum budget £6,000 Reliable and economical to run and maintain   Spacious interior with high rear seats if possible Needs space to accommodate one of the larger extended rear facing car seats and must have no storage compartments under floor in rear 5 seats (or more?) - ideally able to accommodate an adult in the middle back seat if possible We will do average to low annual mileage, mostly urban driving We were thinking of around a 1.6 engine as it's what we are used to?
  • alternative tech - KERS for the road 5 Sep 2012 (Forum)
And instead of huge Lithium Ion cells under the seats weighing things down, the limited amount of electricity stored could be taken care of with smaller battery / flywheel / capacitors. Are the amounts of electricity and storage technology not quite there yet  to make this practical, or are there other reasons?
  • Problems with Sursell? 17 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Well this is day 5 - I rang up and was told that rather having to pay on the day as I'd been led to believe, as the buyer was an account customer he had 8 DAYS TO PAY and today is day 8 he has to pay or incur storage fees. I've already bought my new car and need that money - pronto. My point of view is if BCA choose to give some buyers leeway it's up to them to 'take the slack' and not leave me hanging.
  • Audi A4 B8 - ipods 7 Apr 2010 (Forum)
A trip to Currys has only served to confuse me even more. The Dealer will supply the appropriate cable once I tell him what storage device I've purchased. But which is best? Ipods seem very expensive and the manual says you can use memory sticks or MP3 players as well as Ipods. The assistant in Currys seems to think that only the ipod would bring up the menu of stored items and so I would welcome advice from anyone who is successfully using this system Thanks in advance for any advice.
  • Would ye stop doin' that, would ye? 11 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Screwing up a piece of miscellaneous litter or even chewing gum and ramming it into the ashtray or door pocket 6. Yanking on the door storage bin instead of the grab handle 7. Shutting the door like some kind of badly-trained zoo animal: Hefty slam / timid push / nervous dab at the door frame with (smeary) fingertips /totally ignoring door handle and shoving the window glass 8.
  • Sultan of Brunei?s modified Mercedes for sale 22 Sep 2007 (Forum)
The bright red interior is all leather with matching red carpet. The VIP cabin has four electric seats, LCD screens, electric table and storage compartment and a sound system worthy of a Kiss concert. And the amazing air-conditioning system, more suited to the climate of Dubai than Dorking, is powered by an on-board diesel generator. The Sultan is one of the world?
  • Aircon maintenance - R12 and options 21 May 2007 (Forum)
I have three pre-1993 cars with aircon systems which use - as originally installed - R12 (Freon) refrigerant. One car has been in storage for some years and the a/c has not been regularly run. I fear therefore that it will at least need a check and top-up. And eventually, so will the other two. BUT... R12 is apparently no longer available, even to maintain existing systems.
  • best cheap to run & resell Van? 15 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Or maybe a real cheapy on it's last legs? Dunno. Or maybe I don't really need something colossal-suppose I could stuff sofa's into storage (next door neighbours have a huge Luton thing-get all the sofas etc in there & I know they'd help out) & perhaps one of those people carriers that all the seats come out of? Advice & thoughts all greatfully received. -- http://www.bayingbasset.com
  • what is happening to UK armed forces? 16 Feb 2006 (Forum)
In Petersfield there is a Vehicle repair garage where the Army seem to take their lorries and LandRovers to be repaired and serviced, as the REME repair shops are now depots for car storage, this to is a private garage not army. Yesterday there was a large white transporter dropping off a Land Rover and i asked the driver ,who was RAF, "where are your own lorries" ie Scammels/Oshcosh'es?
