Mazda Mazda 2 (2007 - ) - Is the car's braking distance really scary? 27 Mar 2008 (Forum)
This new model has Anti-lock Braking, Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Emergency Brake Assist, it's also a relative light-weight car. It has 258 mm ventilated disks at front and 200mm diameter drums at rear - this is standard for all engine sizes. -
BMW 5-series brake judder 6 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I have a BMW 520, year 2000 model. When I apply the brakes, there is a severe juddering noise from the offside front side. Also the ABS and the ASC warning lights come on sometimes, although not all the time, not necessarily while braking. I took it to a BMW main dealer who thought it is probably a siezed brake caliper and possibly a bad ABS sensor. -
Brake test 15 Dec 2004 (Forum)
When I got home I checked the certificate which was in order and pinned to it was a slip telling me my brakes had been tested on a Tecalemet Motorcycle Brake Tester. This gave a readout of 110kg brake force on the front, and 105kg on the rear. However, the brake efficiency was measured at 37% and 35% respectively, which seems rather low. -
Running in brake pads/discs. Ford Escort 25 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Had car serviced last Saturday, and also had new front brake discs and pads fitted. After 450 miles of mostly motorway driving, braking not-too-hard in order to run in the new brakes, last night i got a very distinct burning smell coming into the car after braking (again not-too-hard) for a roundabout. -

Braking from 70MPH. Who's tried it? 1 Jan 2008 (Forum)
How many of you brake-hating dinosaurs [ ;) ] have actually tried stopping from 70MPH as quickly as possible? P.S. it's inadvisable to try this on the public roads - it can show up unfortunate defects in braking systems! -

Volkswagen Polo IV Blue GT - Scored Brake disc 24 Jan 2016 (Forum)
My Wife's 6 week old VW Blue GT - Sudden brake problems. The brakes feel " Grindy " and rough underfoot. The front offside disc is deeply scored while the front near side is flawless. Visit to the Dealer who informs her that it's "Likely to be a stone" The service manager didn't drive it to test the braking himself. -

Nissan Micra (1992 - 2003) - 1993 1.0 rear brake pressure. 5 Jun 2008 (Forum)

Brakes pedal hard but after application travel kept changing, braking was terrible. Took off drums discovered only trailing and leading edges touching drum surface, loads of dust. Cleaned out re-fitted, brakes still varaible from very poor to non existent. -
