  • Vauxhall Astra 1.6 petrol - Fuel not registering 24 Apr 2014 (Forum)
Friend of mine has the above car. He has just told me that he has filled it up completely with fuel but that this is not registering on the fuel gauge/dashboard computer.  There are no warning lights on the dashboard.  What could be causing this?  Another friend has told him to disconnect the battery, wait and while, then connect it up again.

Following some links (there's a lot of reading if you follow them) it seems many are using Two Stroke oil mixed with their diesel fuel. http://tinyurl.com/nd5ap8 http://tinyurl.com/43psh3 http://tinyurl.com/mwosjn Can't remember 2T oil in the various fuel additive discussions but feel free to delete this if it's already been covered Mods.
  • Any modern high speed diesel engine - shell fuel save diesel 27 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Can anyone explain why Shell Fuel save diesel fuel is available one week/month, and not the next?  I've noticed this to be the case in East Anglia.  It is replaced with "regular diesel" labelling. I had thought its absence co-incidental with liquididty issues at the Essex refinery, but Fuelsave became available again after that was in the news.

  • Peugeot 405 Diesel - Peugeot 405 fuel leak 1 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Just discovered today that my 1992 GRDT has a fuel leak, it appears to be coming from around the back of fuel injector (mechanical). if anyone has any insight as to what the specific cause or any solutions may be that would be greatly appreciated. It appears to be a regular drip when the engine is running but I cant tell if it leaks at all while it is off.

  • CO2 tax on road fuel 7 Oct 2009 (Forum)
After modifying road fund licence to be CO2 based the European Commision not being ones to be left out are looking into a Europe-wide carbon tax on road fuel. Source: www.just-auto.com/article.aspx?id=101455&lk=dm So you pay a carbon element (no pun intended) on your country specific RFL and now you will pay another carbon element on the fuel which will impact EVERYTHING which is transported by road.

  • Vauxhall Corsa C (2000 - 2006) - 06 1.3 cdti tank fuel pump 12 Feb 2009 (Forum)
My 1.3cdti won't start from cold, and misfires when coming out of overrun. When starting, the tank fuel pump runs for a fraction of a second and stops. I have to keep turning the ignition off and on without cranking the engine until the tank fuel pump runs continuously and then it will start. Anyone got any idea why?

  • Cruise control and fuel economy 20 Mar 2008 (Forum)
One is being driven conventionally with the driver maintaining the speed. Will there be any difference in fuel consumption between the two cars? If so, why? A mate seems to think that cruise increases fuel consumption. I can't see how or why this should be the case. Answers gratefully received. Cheers DP

  • Does living on a hill save fuel? 9 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I live about 3/4 of a mile up a lane with a drop of 35ft approx to the junction where it joins the "main" road. Not much granted, but the engine has an easy time for that 3/4 of a mile and the fuel computer reads in the 40s mpg in summer by the time I reach the junction. The engine's still not hot but it's getting there. On the return journey I'm doing the "climb" with a hot engine. So - am I saving fuel by living on this miniscule bump?
