My 1st month, 3300 miles, with an S-Max 1 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I looked at a lot of cars, including the Touran, Grand Picasso, Verso, Grand Scenic, Mercedes B Class, as well as other estate cars. I drive 40,000 miles per year so comfort is important as well as fuel economy. I pay for all my own fuel and therefore economy is something I couldn?t overlook. I also needed a practical car to carry all my photo gear and baby ?stuff?. I didn?t need 7 seats, just 5 seats and a huge boot. -
Fiat Doblo roadtest - V.long!!!!!!!!!! 9 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Renting an equvilant car converted for wheelchair access costs more than renting an equvilant car that is not converted for wheelchair access and. 3. My dad being disabled is seen as an important person in terms of service. Any able bodied person can be rejected a curtisy car without too much fuss, but why should the disabled, the most vulnerable in society be rejected a vital tool when their car, bought less than a year ago has developed a fault? -
Buying a car from Far Far Away 6 Feb 2010 (Forum)
All I needed to do was to meet the guy and 'place' him inside the building occupied by this company. That was important to me. When I explained this to him he was quite at ease with it. The plan was that I would arrive in Swansea at around 12.00 and the seller would meet me at the station. I would then inspect and drive the vehicle. -
Living, driving and surviving in Kuwait 6 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Jordan thinks I should be buying cheap second-hand luxury and sports cars here and selling them in Spain. Even after I pay the import duty, he says, I should be able to realize pleasant 5-figure sums per sale, become a rich man and thus definitely get a girlfriend. ?It beats teaching,? he concludes gloomily by way of summing-up. ? -
Review of 3 Scenics 8 Sep 2004 (Forum)
The Scenic 2 is 4259mm long (compared with 4169mm of previous Scenic); 1506 mm wide compared to 1485mm; 1620mm high compared to 1675. But, for me, the important difference is the extra 5cm shoulder room both in the front, and in the back, of the new car. I have now had it for a couple of months and done 1200 miles. Fuel consumption wise, I have only averaged 41mpg so far, however much of that has been my wife travelling 3 miles each way to her college. -
A very detailed explanation of how DPFs work 2 Jan 2012 (Forum)
To prevent the particulates creating an obstruction to the exhaust gas flow, the filter system provides a regeneration mechanism, which involves raising the temperature of the filter to such an extent that the particulates are incinerated and as a result removed from the filter. The most important parameters influencing filter regeneration is the temperature of the exhaust gases and filter. With this in mind the composition of the filter also includes a wash coating to the surface of the filter comprising platinum and other active components; materials used in the manufacture of oxidation catalytic converters. -
2004 Pontiac GTO - Motor Trend review 7 Dec 2003 (Forum)
The car is based on the Monaro, a popular rear-drive coupe built by GM division Holden in Australia. And, in fact, all GTOs will be assembled Down Under. Starting this month, Pontiac will import roughly 18,000 annually at a base price of $32,495. http://www.motortrend.com/motor/roadtests/coupe/112_0312_gto_3az.jpg GM interior tailoring at its finest: The GTO cockpit blends astutely arranged controls, handsome materials, tasteful metallic accents, and a level of fit and finish that sets new standards for General Motors vehicles. -
letter from the colonies vol 14 18 Aug 2006 (Forum)
We have chosen the Loyola Academy of Driver Education, and booked 6 lessons for starters. Actually you don't need much to be a driver in the Philippines. Most important skills are turning left at high speed across 5 lanes of traffic to make a left turn, reversing down the motorway when you miss the exit, learning how to turn 6 lanes of traffic into 8 by leaning out and retracting the door mirror of the car next to you, never EVER letting another driver get in front and should one do so, to exert every possible effort to shove your way back in. -
from Catherine about my motorbike course 30 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Here you get away with anything if no one is looking. My Big Boss he has made a down payment on a new red HD Sportster 883 cc for me (special Import) and really I look forward to riding myself with our group. My Virago 400 cc has been OK but as he says its not a real bike like a Harley. Bikers are motorists too, and I often read BR posts about them.
