see if I care..... 15 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I\'ve sent off for a wiring diagram and hopefully Ferdie can fix that up. The instruments don\'t work at all. Doesn\'t seem that important so that can wait. Upholstery is OK but I will get it redone (my local guy does repair work for the BMW dealer so he\'ll do a good job). There\'s a hole where the original radio/8-track used to be. -
9 best kept insurer secrets 22 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Typically it will be sold to a major salvage company who will then sell in an online auction to the highest bidder and vehicles categorised C or D can be bought and repaired by anyone to any standard including cutting two cars in half and welding them together which is perfectly legal and put back on the road with no real checking or testing apart from a ‘Vehicle Identity Check’ done by VOSA which only confirms the chassis number matches the V5. Vehicles bought by eastern European countries can be taken away and repaired to be re imported with a new identity. Some insurers will even dispose of their CAT D total losses into various outlets and decide not to actually categorise them first. So when they are repaired and sold they appear “Clean”. -
Sports potato! 8 May 2020 (Forum)
Live rear axle and poorly sorted suspension combined with lag prone turbo power are not a good combination. The UK importer went bust shortly after. Later Lotus tweaked cars were much better but too little too late. Fiat Punto HGT 1.8 - Top heavy family shopping trolley. The only fun to be had was from early turbocharged 1.4 versions and their mad power delivery. -
A week with an MG3 26 Jun 2014 (Forum)
Even has a full size spare wheel. :) Taken from SniffPetrol Day 1: The MG3 has a nice key. This is important, it creates a good first impression. Its big brother, the never-popular MG6, has the most cacky, flimsy fob in history so it’s nice that MG has learned from this mistake and given its new small car a nice, substantial flick key. -
Ford Transit - Transit Warranty non-existent ??? 30 Dec 2012 (Forum)
At the begining of the whole process I have tried to explain that due to the fact that my van makes a vital part of my business it is very important that any diagnosis/repairs are carried out promptly due to the fact that any rental vehicle is not suitable to carry glass {my van is fitted a cushioned floor and internal glass racking). As i was refused the courtesy van "We don't have anything available" i have rented VW Crafter from Enterprise Van Rental in Park Royal (NW10) at the cost of £360.I have also advised the service operatives that I was supposed to leave for lenghty trip to Germany on DEC 3rd and needed the van repaired by DEC 2nd. -

SEAT - Delays on new car delivery dates, help needed 3 Feb 2010 (Forum)
We in fact chose to stay with Seat as the performance of the safety equipment in the car during our accident was 1st rate & having a young child this is of paramount importance to us. However we now feel almost as if Seat is pushing us to cancel the order so they will not have to fulfil their obligations as the customer service we have received to date is as I am sure you can agree appalling. -

Citroen ZX - Citroen ZX Turbo Deisel - XUD Head Gasket Repair 1 May 2010 (Forum)
I’ve read that some people have said, just stick on the thickest gasket you can (being a 5 notch). Although it may work, it’s not right and being a Diesel, this gasket thickness must be important. I may be wrong and someone might correct me on that one. Anyway I selected a genuine Peugeot/Citroen 4 notch gasket. I cleaned every gasket face as immaculate as I could and replaced every disturbed gasket on the engine. -
wokingham council 13 Dec 2001 (Forum)
What are the Council's priorities for its improvement? Cllr Lawley's response Thanks for your question. The web site is very important to the Council and we have just set up a "Web Board" to look at all issues surrounding its use. The Cabinet regard this as a priority - being in the "Silicon valley" we are determined to keep our site one of the best. -

Right to Silence court case Monday, and publicity 23 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Interview included pointing out that speed cameras are not working, that fatalities have stopped falling after 22 years, and in many places are rising again for the first time since 1972. Also the importance of the right to silence as defence against a police state etc. BBC Item I did not see. Secondhand report and old film but covered anyway, probably in South only. Interview Monday pm on radio in South Wales and Tueday on County Sound, Hampshire. -
Advice needed after accident :( 21 Dec 2005 (Forum)
There's not many cheap cars for sale locally, but about 15 miles down the road there is a nice 2001 reg civic for £3k, insurance cat 4... even with the accident on record i can get fully comp for it for about half the cost of the vehicle, but what do i do about my existing car and insurance (and road tax?) Any advice or suggestions at all from anyone would be appreciated. As I've said, the important thing is that nobody was hurt(i wasn't even sore but my girlfriend had a sore back for a few days) and I just want to get things sorted out as quickly as possibly. obviousley a garage wouldn't have to pay for labour to fix the car and could replace the body work at cost, etc. -

Car accident insurance advice 29 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Just as I was about to join a van drove through the red lights and passed in front of me. The timings are important here, and all I can say is that the next set of events probably happened in less than five seconds. I slowed down my approach, and looked right to see if any other vehicles were also going to jump the lights, looked straight ahead and realised the van had stopped dead in front of me. -
Carjacking Notes 4 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Some banks have armed guards posted at night, but this does not mean it is 100% safe to use the ATM. Safety Tips: BE AWARE. This is very important! Giving the appearance of not paying attention and not being alert is what suspects look for in a victim. Look around and get a BIG PICTURE of your surroundings. Always walk confidently and positively. -

Buying a new car 22 Dec 2013 (Forum)
It will not be as cheap on running costs as some of the other options but I think it will be a lot more fun which for me is an important part of driving. I can’t wait for it to arrive! I will miss my little Pug though. There really wasn’t a bad car among the cars that I tried it was just about what floated my boat in the end. -
Cheaper than cycling - Recommended to Merc owner 27 Apr 2013 (Forum)
It’s firm but doesn’t smash into potholes in a way that makes you worry about something important falling off, such as the engine. It skips over normal road zits pretty well but it doesn’t like big speed bumps. I think the springs are soft but the dampers are hard. Or the other way round. -
VW - Can you trust Volkswagen dealers - a warning 30 Nov 2012 (Forum)
If anyone wishes to refer to how car dealerships should act then the two important documents are on the OFT’s website, these are: Checklist for second hand car dealers - Complying with the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) and the second being the Guidance for second hand car dealers - Compliance with the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended).
