By Sept 2009 the new owner has problems with the car so decides to cut when the auction hahouse carries out a routine HPI check and discovers outstanding finance is owed. Is the new owner entitled to his £500 from the auction house?
  • Dealer's Margin UK/US 23 Jul 2001 (Forum)
Now, I am sure that the dealers get special discounts over and above the trade invoice price, and of coure the various shenanigans you can get up to with finance, but nonetheless, this seems extremely low for a profit. Are profit margins similar in the UK ? (for the dealer on new cars, I mean). No wonder they want to service it, insure it, finance it etc.

  • Hire Purchase hand-back 15 Feb 2008 (Forum)
My agreement says that I can do this so long as the car is in generally good condition for its age. I am wondering whether the finance company would use this to claim back extra money even though the car has been serviced according to schedule at main dealerships. Does the mileage matter? If not, then with the plummetting used prices, this seems to be a good way to finance some high-mileage driving.

  • Soiled credit record after 50% HP return 6 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Given it's a legal part of a finance agreement on any car you'd think not but the way credit referencing works it wouldn't surprise me!
  • HPI checks 5 Apr 2002 (Forum)
If there was finance outstanding what recourse would I have against the vendor? Any thoughts?
  • Any - Dealers, vehicle checks and Fraudulent Conversion 28 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Unfortunately the client in this case has a "road risks"  only policy which offers no such benefits. So what of the person who took out the finance, who sold the financed car to the dealer knowing it to be finance impaired and who has now disappeared over the horizon? Well Hampshire police are on his trail. However I refer though once again to the solicitor for the finance house.
  • C5x - Citroen unable to sell a service plan for C5x’s 22 Oct 2022 (Forum)
However the website does not recognise my car’s registration number or model. Today I ‘phoned customer services at Citroen UK. I was told to contact their finance department. I do not have finance on the car.   The finance department also told me that they have no record of my car on their database, and the person I spoken to was unaware what a C5x is anyway.
  • How to get a better APR 15 May 2019 (Forum)
Zuto said I have a very good credit rate but a very short credit history, hence my APR. I don't want to start requesting finance from others company, as it left a mark on my credit rate, making it worse. Questions: is it a normal APR? Is it worth to try a different finance company? Any suggestions? Am I missing any evident step to get a better APR?
  • fiat 500 - dealer wants to register before delivery 24 Apr 2013 (Forum)
When told they didnt know when car would be delivered but hoped by end of next week we said that we'd rather wait until its delivered. At this point we were told that if we did that we'd lose the finance deal we'd agreed as fiat insist that dealers register the car now as its in the uk and that the finance deal we bought with is only offered / available until 31.03.2012. We dont want to have the car registered with no idea of when its being delivered and also the 7 day insurance may run out by the time its arrived ?
  • Financing new car advice 7 Apr 2004 (Forum)
However, my problem is that my mileage will be high ~30k/pa, and the trade-in on my existing car will be virtually nil, and with no deposit the finance/PCP/whatever will be very expensive (mainly cos of the mileage). So I'm not sure what to do.... shouldI keep my existing car, do the work and keep it running. Or should I take the plunge and replace with 1. a new(ish) car on PCP or loan and stomach the high payments due to depreciation or 2. buy an older (2-3yr) but solid car (bmw/merc?)

  • Nice ? - Car salesman 4 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Having bought my last 3 cars from main dealers a few comments. Car salesman each time told "NO EXTRAS" but we have to inform you. Finance offered    .. got to pay cash can't get credit.... ooops naughty me not taking finance..... These 4 "options"  would have added £1400 to the price of a £7995 car...

  • nowt for nowt 28 Apr 2005 (Forum)
So any "deal" offered by this broker on Ford vehicles may be worth little, or turn out to be even a bad one. We now know why Ford makes more from Finance Division than producing cars. Am I correct (DavidHM)?

  • selling a car with outstanding finance 8 Sep 2006 (Forum)
a week later I receive a county court summons... the interesting thing is, the summons mentions nothing about the car, instead saying I was advanced a sum of money by the finance company. I replied to the summons making an offer of payment. After 8 weeks I heard nothing. I have since moved house and took the car with me, registered it at my new address and am waiting to see what happens I know the car is not legally mine, but the judgement failed to mention the car, nor did the finance company request the court to order me to return it.

  • Mercedes SLK - Ending PCP early 18 Jun 2015 (Forum)
I have a PCP with Mercedes UK.  The agreement allows me to end the contract early provided that at least 50% of the finance has been paid. Having spoken to MB (to confirm this) they said that they would be obliged to put a marker on my credit record saying I had terminated the agreement early and that this "might make it difficult for me to take out finance in the future and at a higher APR and with a larger deposit".
