  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 03 1.8 Calcium Batteries 10 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Have just purchased a new battery for my Focus. 6 years old - interesting to read Ford batteries don't seem to last long! Battery is calcium but not sure if this is silver calcium as there may, it seems, be different types. Is this likely to cause problems.
  • Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - 1995 1.2 Battery losing charge 14 Jun 2008 (Forum)
When the car is left standing for a few days, the battery loses charge. After about 2 weeks there is hardly enough power to start the engine. It is a new battery and has been tested. Can anyone suggest what could be draining the battery? Could an immobiliser be a drain?
  • X5 Battery Keeps going flat 2 Aug 2007 (Forum)
A friend of mine is at his wits end with his X5 whose battery keeps going flat after a week or so. It's been into the local BMW dealer numerous times, for new battery (x2), new ignition switch, new alternator (£1000!) but still the battery flatens after a week or so.
  • Battery Recharge 22 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Hi - how long should I need to drive my car after jump starting it so as to recharge the battery? The reason I ask is that I did so for about 25 mins last night but battery was still flat when I went to restart this morning. Not sure if it's relevant but car is a Jag XJS and battery had been fine up until recent cold weather.
  • Leads off on battery charging? 21 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Can someone give me a definative answer to this? Is it strictly necessary to remove any of the battery leads when attaching a home battery charger to the battery on a modern car? Years ago I remember when we had dynamos it wasn't necessary but with the advent of alternaters I think there is now a link (electronic or wire etc) with the alternater even tho' the ignition is 'off'.
  • is it the battery?? 23 Aug 2002 (Forum)
Sometimes when I start my mondeo (petrol), mainly when the engine is still warmish, I have to 'catch it' by dabbing the accelerator to prevent it cutting out. The battery is nearly 3 years old and I do a fair number of shortish journeys. I checked the water levels in the battery and toped them up as they were low but not below the cells. I understand some people reccommend elective battery replacement every 3 years
  • Jaguar XK - Replacement battery 7 Dec 2015 (Forum)
My car is 2011 model and suffers occasional flat battery due to low usage and parasitic drain. I'm trying to decide on best battery - at the moment I'm considering Bosch S4 or Varta AGM ( very expensive )

  • BMW Z3 - Battery keeps discharging 20 Apr 2018 (Forum)
The car I left for about a week at a time but refuses to start every time until the battery is charged. How can I check whether there is a leak some where and can you disconnect the battery if necessary?
  • Audi A4 - Changing batteries 27 Aug 2015 (Forum)
What is the best way to change over a battery? Understand you must use a bridging battery to save the radio code obviously. But does the Central computer reset to factory settings if you don't bridge and is this not a bad thing anyway?
  • Ford Cougar (1998 - 2000) - 1999 2.0 Battery light Fault 3 Apr 2010 (Forum)
I am not sure where to go from here I don't think its the alternator or battery. I have tested the link from the alternator to the battery and it seems good.. As does the earth.. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks James

Being stupid, I assumed I could just change battery and start using. No it didnt ! Tried to start car after manually opening doors, but wouldnt start. Got spare keys that had no battery in it and started fine.
  • Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - 96 2.0 Xantia lighter socket 15 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I've got a 66ah battery in it at the moment and I'm thinking of popping a battery in the passenger footwell and connecting it via the lighter socket. Maplins do a lighter socket to lighter socket jump lead which would possibly do, the jumper battery has a lighter socket in it so I could connect it that way and just use it to power the radio code and alarm until the main battery is charged again.
