Renault 5 E-Tech Hatch 110kW Iconic Five 52kWh Comfort Range Auto
Renault 5 UK Customer Experience / WLTP v Real World Experience
Let us be very clear, this is mainly a review of my Customer Service experience with Renault, not the vehicle.
However, there is important information about the difference between WLTP and real-world driving.
I had one of the very first R5 in the UK, which I ordered before I saw the vehicle. I have the 150 Bhp Iconic 5 in Yellow / Black Roof (Vehicle ordered: Renault 5 E-Tech Hatch 110kW Iconic Five 52kWh Comfort Range Auto)
According to Renault:
• 52kWh Battery (Comfort Range): Delivers approximately 249-250 miles (WLTP), suitable for more varied trips, including motorway driving. Cost £30,500.
Real World:
9th January 2026 100% = 182 miles
7th January 2026 100% = 182 miles
4th January 2026 100% = 157 miles
3rd January 2026 100% = 157 miles
2nd January 2026 100% = 165 miles
31st December 2025 100% = 176 miles
29th December 2025 100% = 214 miles
28th December 2025 100% = 170 miles
21st December 2025 100% = 181 miles
19th December 2025 100% = 190 miles
*Lowest I've ever seen is 141 miles on a 100% charge.
Why am I reviewing the customer experience?
Mainly because of the frustration of dealing with Renault UK customer service. Not helpful or efficient. It's been approximately 7 days since the last email, and no one has called to explain. The answer is that the range is not guaranteed.
Fortunately, my place of work is 53 miles each way, and my wife's is 37, so it's usable daily.
The car itself is fantastic, we love it.
Our other vehicle is a 23 plate VW Tiguan ICE, which goes off lease in 4 months.
We were considering a bigger electric Renault to replace it, as we have upgraded our consumer unit in the garage and have installed a 3-phase 22 kWh car charger on the wall.
Given Renault UK's slow and unhelpful response, there is no chance of us committing to keeping the R5 beyond its current lease or considering an additional vehicle from them.
