All-new Volkswagen T-Roc on sale from £31,620
- New Volkswagen T-Roc is an all-new version of a VW best-seller
- Priced from £31,620, on sale now
- Larger than before to boost passenger space and slot in between T-Cross and Tiguan
- Three trims and two power choices for now, but more options will follow
The new Volkswagen T-Roc is now on sale, with prices starting from less than £32,000. It's a brand new version of a small SUV that has become a regular top-10 best-seller here in the UK.
Three versions have been put on sale so far, all with mild-hybrid power. There's the entry-level VW T-Roc Life, the mid-spec Style, and the top-spec VW T-Roc R-Line, while the engine choices are two 1.5-litre petrol units with 116PS or 150PS.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc is larger than the previous model, of which more than two million have been sold since its 2017 launch. This means the new Volkswagen T-Roc slots neatly into the range between the smaller Volkswagen T-Cross and larger Volkswagen Tiguan.
The new T-Roc is 122mm longer than before. A length of 4373mm means it is now around 90mm longer than a Volkswagen Golf, rather than being shorter than the benchmark family hatchback.
A longer wheelbase means the new Volkswagen T-Roc has more legroom inside, while the interior has been updated with the latest cutting-edge infotainment technology.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc has been developed to take on a formidable line-up of rivals including the Nissan Qashqai, the Toyota C-HR, the Skoda Karoq, the Hyundai Kona, the Kia Niro, the MINI Countryman, the Dacia Duster, the Honda HR-V and more.
2026 Volkswagen T-Roc prices and release date
The new Volkswagen T-Roc is on sale now. Prices start at £31,620 for the VW T-Roc Life 1.5 eTSI 116 and rises to £36,240 for the VW T-Roc Style 1.5 eTSI 116 and £38,920 for the higher-spec and more powerful T-Roc R-Line 1.5 eTSI. This places the new car neatly in the range between the smaller Volkswagen T-Cross and larger Volkswagen Tiguan.
2026 Volkswagen T-Roc styling, interior and technology
The new Volkswagen T-Roc evolves the sporty style of the current model, with a sleek new ‘face’ that has the smooth, advanced look of other modern VWs.
The headlights are slimmer and sportier, integrating LED technology. Higher grades have an LED light bar and illuminated VW badge. There’s a stylish bumper, with extra-large air intakes on R-Line models and for the first time you can spec your T-Roc with 20-inch alloy wheels.
Popular details remain on the new Volkswagen T-Roc, such as the bold rear pillars and muscular wheelarch haunches. The shoulderline is higher than more upright-looking SUVs. This carries on the athletic, coupe-like profile that has made it such a popular model.
At the rear, the new Volkswagen T-Roc has a bold look and again features a full-width light bar with illuminated VW logo available on certain models.
Inside, the new Volkswagen T-Roc has been transformed. It’s described as taking a "leap forward in quality" with tactile features from the class above.
Highlights include an all-new fabric structure on the top of the dashboard and a finisher strip that runs the full width of the dashboard before curving up at the sides.
There's extended ambient lighting that, for the first time, illuminates the interior through the perforated upholstery on the door panels.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc also has newly-designed interior doorhandles, that are “intuitively pulled up” to open the doors.
An all-new infotainment system features within the new Volkswagen T-Roc, running the firm’s latest software. The freestanding 12.9-inch centre screen is designed to be clearer and easier to use, with climate controls now featuring on a strop across the bottom of the screen, along with illuminated ‘touch’ sliders.
The 10-inch driver display, which VW calls the Digital Cockpit Pro, is standard on higher-specification cars and a head-up display is also available.
Stowage space has been improved and there’s now a prominent wireless charging pad in the centre of the dashboard.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc uses the latest VW column-mounted gearshifter and the steering wheel has easy-to-use physical buttons. The car has an SUV-like driving position with a clear view over the high bonnet. Plush massage seats are available.
There’s more space in the rear of the new Volkswagen T-Roc. The firm says that six-footers will find enough space even if they’re sitting behind someone of the same height.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc also has a larger boot, growing 30 litres to take a useful 475 litres with the rear seats in place.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc will be available in a choice of six colours, four of which are new – the Canary Yellow pictured here, along with Flame Red, Celestial Blue and Grenadilla Black.
2026 Volkswagen T-Roc engines, performance and fuel economy
The new Volkswagen T-Roc launches with hybrid engine tech as standard in the form of two 48V mild hybrids, badged as eTSI. They use a 1.5-litre petrol engine with either 116PS amd 220Nm of torque, or 150PS and 250Nm. A seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox is standard.
Performance-wise the more powerful engine gets to 62mph from standstill in 8.9 seconds, while the lower-powered version takes 10.6 seconds.
The 116PS version promises a combined fuel consumption of 50.6mpg in the T-Roc Life, dropping to 49.9mpg in the Style. The 150PS engine returns up to 50.3mpg.
More engines will follow later, including “two full hybrid drive systems that have been developed from scratch” according to VW. Unlike a lot of rivals, these will be Volkswagen’s first full hybrid engines.
2026 Volkswagen T-Roc trim levels
There are three trim levels available at launch: Life, Style, and R-Line.
The Volkswagen T-Roc Life comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, black roof rails, and an 8-inch digital display screen inside, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Front and rear parking sensors are standard, as is keyless start and Climatronic air conditioning. Adaptive cruise control is also standard.
Upgrade to the VW T-Roc Stytle and you'll get 18-inch alloys, chrome radiator elements and upgraded LED headlights, tinted rear glass and silvger roof rails. There are more features on the infotainment system, including navigation, and an upgraded digital driver display. The front passengers get a massage function, and there's three-zone air-con and ambient interior lighting with 30 possible colours.
The top-spec R-Line model has a sportier exterior look with different bumpers, 18-inch alloy wheels and stainless steel pedals inside. The car also rides 15mm lower on sports suspension, and there are more hugging sports seats in the front.
