- New Volkswagen T-Roc is an all-new version of a VW best-seller
- Larger than before to boost passenger space and slot in between T-Cross and Tiguan
- Advanced technology and electrified petrol engines offering hybrid tech across the range
- UK details will follow this autumn with prices expected to start from around £32,000
The new Volkswagen T-Roc is a brand new version of a small SUV that has become a regular top-10 best-seller here in the UK.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc is larger than the previous model, of which more than two million have been sold since its 2017 launch. This means the new Volkswagen T-Roc slots neatly into the range between the smaller Volkswagen T-Cross and larger Volkswagen Tiguan.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc is 122mm longer than before. A length of 4373mm means it is now around 90mm longer than a Volkswagen Golf, rather than being shorter than the benchmark family hatchback.
A longer wheelbase means the new Volkswagen T-Roc has more legroom inside, while the interior has been updated with the latest cutting-edge infotainment technology.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc comes with hybrid petrol engines as standard. At launch, it will offer 48v mild hybrid engines, called eTSI. Further hybrid engines will follow.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc has been developed to take on a formidable line-up of rivals including the Nissan Qashqai, Toyota C-HR, Skoda Karoq, Hyundai Kona, Kia Niro, Mini Countryman, Dacia Duster, Honda HR-V and more.
2026 Volkswagen T-Roc prices and release date

The new Volkswagen T-Roc will make its public debut at the IAA Munich Motor Show in early September and is expected to hit European roads in November 2025. Its UK arrival is expected in early 2026.
New Volkswagen T-Roc prices are still to be confirmed, but are expected to start from around £32,000. This will place it neatly in the range between the smaller Volkswagen T-Cross and larger Volkswagen Tiguan.
2026 Volkswagen T-Roc styling, interior and technology

The new Volkswagen T-Roc evolves the sporty style of the current model, with a sleek new ‘face’ that has the smooth, advanced look of other modern VWs.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc’s headlights are slimmer and sportier, integrating LED technology. Higher grades have an LED light bar and illuminated VW badge. There’s a stylish bumper, with extra-large air intakes on R-Line models.

Popular details remain on the new Volkswagen T-Roc, such as the bold rear pillars and muscular wheelarch haunches. The shoulderline is higher than more upright-looking SUVs too. This carries on the athletic, coupe-like profile that has made it such a popular model.

At the rear, the new Volkswagen T-Roc has a bold look and again features a full-width light bar with illuminated VW logo available.

Inside, the new Volkswagen T-Roc has been transformed. It’s described as taking a leap forward in quality, with tactile features from the class above.
Highlights include an all-new fabric structure on the top of the dashboard, and a finisher strip that runs the full width of the dashboard before curving up at the sides.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc has extended ambient lighting that, for the first time, illuminates the interior through the perforated upholstery on the door panels.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc also has newly-designed interior doorhandles, that are “intuitively pulled up” to open the doors.

An all-new infotainment system features within the new Volkswagen T-Roc, running the firm’s latest software. The freestanding centre screen is clearer and easier to use, with climate controls now featuring on a strop across the bottom of the screen, along with illuminated ‘touch’ sliders.

The new Volkswagen T-Roc has adopted the ‘driving experience control’ centre controller from the larger Volkswagen T-Roc. This dial contains a small TFT LCD display that is cleverly configurable. A head-up display is also available.
Stowage space has been improved, and there’s now a prominent wireless charging pad in the centre of the dashboard.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc uses the latest VW column-mounted gearshifter, and the steering wheel has easy-to-use physical buttons.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc has an SUV-like driving position with a clear view over the high bonnet. Plush massage seats are available.

There’s more space in the rear of the new Volkswagen T-Roc too. The firm says that six-footers will find enough space even if they’re sitting behind someone of the same height.

The new Volkswagen T-Roc also has a larger boot, growing 20 litres to take a useful 465 litres with the rear seats in place.
The new Volkswagen T-Roc will be available in a choice of six colours, four of which are new – the Canary Yellow pictured here, along with Flame Red, Celestial Blue and Grenadilla Black.
2026 Volkswagen T-Roc engines, performance and fuel economy

The new Volkswagen T-Roc uses the firm’s MQB evo architecture. This is already seen in a broad range of vehicles, including the latest Volkswagen Passat and upscale Volkswagen Tayron.
This means the new Volkswagen T-Roc benefits from many of the tech features seen in other VWs, including the clever Park Assist Pro. It ‘memorises’ parking routes and allows fully automatic parking over distances of up to 50 metres.

The new Volkswagen T-Roc launches with hybrid engine tech as standard. There will be two 48V mild hybrid engines, called eTSI, offering 116PS and 150PS. A seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox will be standard.
More engines will follow later, including “two full hybrid drive systems that have been developed from scratch” according to VW. Unlike a lot of rivals, these will be Volkswagen’s first full hybrid engines.
Full details of performance and fuel economy will follow later this year.
