Following on from the coupe and convertible variants, the Gran Coupe is a four-door saloon but with the sleek shape of the 4 Series and will be a strong rival to the likes of the Audi A5 Sportback. It goes on sale in June with prices starting at £29,420.

Despite the extra doors, the Gran Coupe is actually the same size as the 4 Series Coupe and shares the same front end design. It does have a higher roofline which stretches further back meaning better headroom for rear passengers and a larger more practical boot - up to 480 litres. The diesel range includes the excellent 420d with 184PS which can return an average of 60.1mpg according to the official figures with emissions of 124g/km. Alongside this is the 418d which is even cleaner with 119g/km and official economy of 62.8mpg. The 428i and 420d engines are also available with xDrive four-wheel drive and while all models come with a six-speed manual as standard, an eight-speed Steptronic is available as an option.

The Gran Coupe will be available in five different trims SE, Sport, Modern, Luxury and M Sport. Prices are identical the Coupe model which means the cheapest version is the 420i SE at £29,420. The 418d SE is £30,995 while the 420d variant is £31,795.
