BMW reveals Concept X4

BMW has revealed pictures of the Concept X4, a two-door coupe crossover similar to its X6, which BMW calls a Sports Activity Vehicle, or SAV. While it is called a concept, it previews a model which will go on sale in the UK in early 2014, following its production-ready unveiling at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

In profile the X4 is very similar to the X6, although it is smaller and lower. A closer look reveals plenty of other differences, too, like the angular all-LED headlights and the ‘slashes’ down the sides. Details about engines are yet to be released, but you can expect to see options similar to those offered on the X3, including the popular and frugal 184PS 20d, along with xDrive all-wheel drive.

Prices should start at around £30,000 when order books open in early 2014, and the production car should look more or less the same as the concept version previewed in these pictures, albeit with a few toned-down details and probably smaller wheels than the 21-inch alloys fitted to the Concept.
