VW Golf 1.4tsi 2010 - Rear Bumper Repair - Ian91

Just had a look at my rear bumper and there is a slight scuff mark which has broken the paint on the near side of the bumper, probably done in a car park by someone! Had an estimate for the scuff repair and respray for @ £325 does this seem reasonable? The estimate is from a reputable repair centre which is approved by VW. Not decided as yet, whether to get it repaired or take the hit when I trade the car in in around 12-18 months time.

When I needed the some deep scratches on the front bumper on my BMW I used one of the mobile ones - cost about £100 and did a good job.

If you are thinking about leaving it, bear in mind that a small scuff would be classed as a smart repair for a main dealer and would probably only hurt the value by about £50-£75, or at least thats what we costed a minor repair at.

£325 is a lot, a mobile smart repairer will do a good job for much less, it wont be bodyshop quality of course and wont last as long as proper paint, but will look and last fine for the length of time you are talking about.

Dad's car got the rear bumper scuffed at either the supermarket or welfare. Silver paint completely removed down to black plastic and a small scratch on the rear wing. Dealer wanted to fit new rear bumper and paint the whole rear and rear wing, about £400 from memory. I took it to a smart repairer in town who specialises in sorting motability and lease cars before they go back, the wife used them in a previous job. Did a perfect job that still looks perfect over 3 years later, exact colour match, £55.

I scuffed my front bumper, perfect smart repair cost me £80. Watched him do it and he was very methodical and I was impressed.

I went for a local one (not one of the franchises) with a website full of testimonials and examples of work. A lot of them quote off a picture message
