Toyota Corolla - Toyota & MOT - Not as good as you may think :-) - Cluedo

Took my Toyota Corolla for it's tenth year main dealer service and MOT today and got a bit of a shock as this was the first time something needed doing to get it through it's MOT.

I was bitterly disappointed when I paid an additional £1:32 on the bill for a new bulb.

I tell you these Toyotas are not as good as you may think even if they do not charge for fitting bulbs !!

Have you considered approaching Toyota re some sort of goodwill contribution towards the repair costs?

Have you considered buying a Renault to make MOT times more interesting?

It sounds as though you have a good car and are looking after it really well. If only all owners were like that.

Earlier this year all my 14 year old, at the time 211,000 miles covered, Octavia needed was a number plate bulb and a new number plate.:)

I'm afraid my Renault's MOT wasn't very interesting. Just a straight pass-again. [yawn]

Renaults really aren't as bad as suggested ,I've sold quite a few and generally they cost about £100 ,to put through an mot .

It's worth considering that as 5 year old cars they are a lot cheaper to buy than the equivalent ford or Toyota .

Outrageous! 13.2p per year in non-scheduled service items? Sales of Goods Act time, I think ;-D

I feel sorry for the Corolla having an owner that doesn't carry out weekly maintenance checks. The shame for the poor car now having a 'MOT fail' on its' previously unblemeshed record. Now when it 's parked next to the latest model at Tescos it won't have the retort 'I may be old, but I've never failed an MOT'.

It was all so avoidable.
