Renault Koleos (same diesel engine as in Nissans?). Oil filler cap/dipstick - physicalperfection

Dipstick is attached to oil filler cap. Sadly, I cannot unscrew the cap and so cannot check oil level.

I have tried when the engine is cold and hot; it will turn until it clicks, but will not pull off.

Any suggestions please?

(Digital indication on dash suggests level is OK, but could do with a top-up)

When turned clockwise, some (fuel) filler caps click when at the " locked on" position. Are you turning it the correct way ie anticlockwise? Perhaps reading the handbook will carify this for you. If all else fails and you think the filler cap is ready to be pulled off, you could try gently levering it up.

Thanks.

Yes - turning it anticlockwise. Handbook no help.

Might have to try leverage, but nervous about doing so.

After viewing pictures of replacement caps on ebay, decided to use brute force. Cap came away from dipstick which was jammed in engine. Dipstick removed with pliers and reunited with cap - all is now well.
