Just removed and replaced the rack from my wifes 306 X reg. Didn't drop the sub frame but DID manage to remove with jiggery pockery!

The 'trick' is to take off both track rod ends, pinch the steering fliud pipes off at the reservoir and persuade the heat shield free and out up over the top pf the engine. Unbolt the rack/pipes etc., Then lying flat on your back (wear goggles) feet out under the radiator, unbolt and unclip the steering rod universal, take away safety clip - now for the fun bit -

Push the rack to the passenger side and turn it over so that the steering rod connector is looking down between the two side rails and drop it down in the middle - dah dah!! Give or take an hour!!!!
