I am having trouble with the accelerator on start up after reversing out of my driveway,when you stop at gateway and operate clutch pedal the engine revs from idle to about 1500rpm, sometimes even higher according to how cold the engine is at start. (on releasing clutch pedal reverts to normal).This also happens when engaging first gear to pullaway. When at normal operating temperature it is fine . According to local Hyundai Garage this is normal !!!. My son has a 1.4 identical model with no problems like this.Incidentally both cars are 2011 models. The throttle cable looks Ok. Cable "drum" on engine is free enough . Could this be electronic software fault ?.Any ideas/comments please.

Doesn't sound right to me, I'd go back wielding an attitude, or alternatively something at least 2 foot and marked "Whitworth".

So, is this an automatic?

It will idle faste fom start up, its the automatic cold start enrichment (choke when I was a lad). Perfectly normal.

1500rpm.as cold fast idle appears a little high but not abnormal-most calibrations now have 1200/1300rpm unlike the old carburetor days when it was 3000.
