Seat Leon 1.6TDI CR Ecomotive - LED Sidelights - xreyuk

Hi,

I've bought and fitted some LED sidelights, and just had some questions.

1. Are they legal, here is a picture: f.cl.ly/items/06410l0U1L0U3Q0j1C01/IMG_0136.jpg

2. They currently bring up an error for a short period when the engine starts, if I bought some load resistors off ebay, would they be safe to put behind the cap, inside the enclosure where you get to the bulbs?

Technically they are illegal but the police don`t seem to care because lots of people seem to have them but they are a definate MOT failure.

Can I ask where you know that from? I've seen many people say that they're aren't illegal as long as they're white, and I've never known anyone to get an MOT fail from them as they're fitted to AUDI's/VWs as standard. I believe SEAT dealers are willing to put them in as well.

Do you have any experience of the above?

If they were fitted to the car in the factory then that is different they must be legal. If it said on the packaging EU ROAD LEGAL your ok but I doubt it as LED car bulbs are usually designed for the interior lights. Personally I think that this is totally stupid because LED bulbs look great and produce brighter light which is far safer.

Cheers, no worries. I still have the original bulbs and they take less than 2 minutes to change, so come MOT time, i'll just change them. If I don't get pulled over, then I guess there's no problem either!

I'm assuming I'm pulled, they'll just ask me to change them?

It`s very unlikely you will be pulled over especially if the bulbs are white. I had blue LED sidelight bulbs in my car for a long time and the police saw them many times and I was never stopped. Do change them for the MOT though.
