As long as the engine code is the same, it'll be fine. 2001 is around the time they changed for EuroIII to EuroIV for the petrol engines (July 2000 build dates), so you might find the engines are different.

Depends on the engine, the small 1.0 and 1.2 engines have good compatibility, apart from the cylinder head and associated components.
