Hi,

I have had my new VW Golf MK5 GT TDI (2007) for a couple of weeks. I have noticed a quiet but noticeable grinding / scraping / breathing (difficult to tell which) noise coming from behind the dash, presumably in the engine engine somewhere.

It's rythmic but not that frequent, say every 3 seconds, lasting for 1 second.

Its more noticeable in the cabin than when I look under the bonet, mainly because the engine noise drowns it out.

Any idea what this could be?
