Peugeot 307 SW - Peugeot 307 110 HDI Turbo not working - Tijjie

Hi,

The turbo has suddenly stopped working on my pug 307 110 HDI. No bangs, or smoke, no lights on the dash or anything like that.

Plugged my scanner in and it came back with P0299 turbo/supercharger underboost.

Any ideas? I have replaced the valve (the one with a butterfly) that is connected to the big fat pipe on the intercooler as my mate put his vaccum gun on it and it was leaking. Still no joy though. Oily in that area too.

Cant see any leaks on any pipes. HELP!

Tij

Could it be a solenoid or something similar?

I really don't want to have to take it to Peugeot! Please help!

Can't help you with the problem I'm afraid but if you have to take it somewhere I would suggest a diesel specialist, they are usually cheaper than a dealer and generally know what they are doing.

I would take the pipes off both sides of the turbo and check the impellor shaft. It is possible that it has broken or is seized.hth

Planet diagnostic should tell you. No good going on someone else's issue, yours could be completely unconnected and you waste time and money on replacing potentially good parts.

Google "Peugeot Planet Map" to find a network of Peugeot owners with the proper diagnostics kit.

The default position on these tuebos is no boost,

And by that I mean the turbo is off at idle speed and when starting

boost is only generated when the turbo solenoid is triggered on.

so get your helpful and well equipped mate to stick his vacuum gun on the disconnected small bore pipe that runs from the turbos solenoid at the turbo and start the car.

When throttled the gauge should read vacuum If not then as I'm in there with the right tool I connect to the input pipe for the solenoid and check for vac from the vacuum pump.

Good vac means the solenoid is probaly shot poor or no vac means a vac pupm or vac supply fault.

Had a Golf TDI many years ago that lost its boost intermittantly but only on really hot days. Dealer spotted that when the engine was revved it rocked and pulled on a vacume pipe and partly closed it at a tight bend, he guessed that when it was hot the pipe was more flexible and might close up totally. He re-routed the pipe with no tight bend and never had another problem.

The pipe went to a small box (size of a relay) with electrical connectors, was that a solenoid or similar?

turn out it was the solenoid and a split pipe.
